Hmm this could be tricky - I am going to a JW wedding.

We went to one just two months after our last meeting. Didn't get any flack, but most people didn't know we were "gone" as we had changed congos and just never went.

It was facinating to sit there and view the interactions through the lens of a disbeliever. What we saw and heard there confirmed our decision to exit was the right one.

I am fairly certain that a "doctrinal" conversation would end up in bigger problems for us.

And innapropriate for a wedding, it's a time to rejoice and be happy and celebrate the new couple!

Have a great time, that alone will probably drive them crazy.

So what should we expect - to be ignored or to be grilled?

Not to be the bearer of potential bad, but the odds are that while they will leave you alone at the wedding, you can get back on their RADAR afterwards. What can happen is that the elders leave someone alone because they are lazy or because they have no known reason to consider disfellowshipping them or some combination of those, but the elders see that they do interact with other JW's (at the wedding/reception). They consider them a "danger to the congregations" and pursue them to ask if they still believe WTS is "the truth."

The good news is that you can choose to not respond to them and the most likely is that things go back to the way they were after awhile. Don't meet with them, don't answer questions because they will build up to the questions they really want answered.
