These little Western Tanagers come around occasionally. So bright they almost look flourescent
My feeders are being swarmed by these spectacular birds...

Have all you bird watchers considered joining http://www.birds.cornell.edu/pfw/ (The Cornell Lab of Ornithology) I did this past year. You watch 2 consecutive days a week for as long as you want. 15 minutes or all day, and report your findings. They keep track of your counts, species, and rare birds. It was really fun. The last count ended April 9th but starts up again in the fall.
I highly recommend it, To join its about 17.00 for the year....so worth it! You get access to all kinds of studies, help with bird ID's, see whats happening in your state and across the U.S. and Canada, etc. You get a great calendar and your information is used by Cornell for many different studies.
Moshe, your sighting of Monk Parakeets would be especially prized.
Everyone, please join if you can.

Just one more note:
This cold winter in Florida I had a Female Summer Tanager. They usually winter in South America. It turns out someone 3 miles from me was reporting the same bird with a major highway between us. The following photo does little justice to this bird. It is lime green and lemon yellow and the size of a Cardinal. It literally glowed!
The other strange thing that happened is I had 10 Common yellow throat males at one time. Almost unheard of. When these fellas flew in the bamboo looked like a lit up Christmas tree.
I later learned that males migrate before females. My feeders were one of those quick stopovers. They were never to be seen again.

> I already have a squirrel problem
I decided not to fight the squirrels... instead I setup things so that all the critters can eat the corn. I take a scoop of corn and pour it on my patio by the bird bath.
All the critter are happy.

We get these on our bird table, this is about as exotic as it gets in the UK. Still a beautiful bird!
