Wow CAMEO-D - Thanks for posting this. I just woke up earlier than usual for a Saturday morning. Jesus Christ. Let's just hope this doesn't cause as much mass destruction as the Indonesia Tsunami did a few years ago. It looks like the Southern Hemisphere countries are in the most danger as is Hawaii . I will definitely turn on the news. All our friends in ANY of those countries- GET THE HELL TO HIGHER GROUND AWAY FROM THE COAST. Please

I have not been able to find much of any information in the Hawaii forums. I have checked several. One forum has a post which was a re-post of an individual announcement...and no comments at all.

Then I found this:

" the evacuation sirens are expected around 6am for an approx. 11:20-11:30a, state-wide tsunami event expected to last 6-10 hours. Vertical evacuation for Waikiki is encouraged." ( Time stamped at 3:58 am)

and then this is time stamped the same. Apparently the TV shows were just broadcasting written announcements at bottom of screen.

"KFVE and KHNL are showing the Today show, KITV is showing paid programming and KGMB is showing CBS's Early show but all these stations are displaying text crawls.

And Joe Moore just mentioned that KHON is in or close to a tsunami flood zone.

So far KHON is reporting that Civil Defense will sound the sirens at 6am HST and the first wave is expected to hit Hilo around 11:19 am. "
