There are many different sides to the issue of providing for those who are materially less fortunate than others.
So far, no one has been able to figure out how to separate the needy from the greedy.
I certainly don't have the answer, so I'll not hijack this great thread any further.

There was another thread questioning if the JWs are attracting a class of weirdly troubled people now. (I think they really always have)
This case just looks to me to be about half JW influence and half trouble on the part of the "bible student" to begin with...a bad combination.
