What exactly is a "spirit"? Is it invisible? Does it have form? Can it shape-shift and assume other forms?

Is Jehovah a 'spirit'? Is a spirit considered a "creature'?

    ----

    (paraphrased from abu.nb.ca/Courses/NTIntro/LifeJ/ExorcismJesus.htm)

Gen. 6:1-4 tells us that "spirits" are the disembodied offspring of the watchers who continue their corrupting influence on the human race.

Many texts speak of existence in the post diluvian period of evil spirits subordinate to the ruling evil spirit, variously named Satan, Belial (Beliar), Mastema, angel of darkness, spirit of deceit, Melchiresha, and the Devil, Diabolos.

(paraphrased from Demonology of the Dead Sea Scrolls)

Enochic traditions, Tobic, and other mostly Aramaic writing shaped ideas during First and Second centuries BCE. These non-sectarian documents were composed between the 2nd and 4th centuries BCE

'Spirit' (ruah) is never applied in the absolute sense without being qualified or associated with other Beings. In Aramaic texts---only singular and for evil being.

In the Jubilees, 'spirits' are listed numerous times as evil beings; 'spirit' as a designation for a top ranked malevolent force.

    Terms--(demon, spirit, watcher, holy one)

Proper names (for fallen angels, giants, single prominent figures)

    Different classes of evil beings

Figures designated in accordance with their functions or characteristics

"In Torah, Israel was forbidden from having any connection with those conversant with the spiritual world. (Lev.19:31; 20:6, 27, Deut. 18:10-11)

This presupposes that such spiritual beings exist, but that Israel is to maintain distance from them."

Saul was tormented by spirit from Yahweh. (1 Samuel 16:14-16; 23)

    Why ask us?

Just make it up yourself. You don't need someone to do your thinking for you. It's not like an electrical appliance where making a mistake could be fatal, so you need to be able to understand the instruction manual.

    Cheers

Black sheep: "Just make it up yourself."

Are you quoting that from the Elder's Flock Book?

I can't speak about the "god" of the New Testament, but the "god" of the Old Testament known as Jehovah is a demon from a more ancient mythology. Demons are not "fallen angels", they are extremely malevolent spirit beings, they have names and personalities, they cannot take material form but can appear to the weak minded as a kind of hologram making the weak minded believe that they saw something which did have a material form. Where these spirit beings came from is unknown other than to say that they are not former humans. They are old beyond reckoning.

People who do not actively go seeking demons through the practice of powerful black magic do not have to worry about being bothered by these demons.

The Isrealites were practitioners of a very ancient, very potent black magic which is how and why they were able to interact with the demon Jehovah. They did this to gain power over the surrounding nations but they paid a very heavy price for getting involved with this creature.

The warnings in the Old Testament against practicing black magic were directed at the Yahwehists (Jehovists) because this demon had wreaked so much havoc on the Israelites and the surrounding nations.

Happy Guy says "The warnings in the Old Testament against practicing black magic were directed at the Yahwehists (Jehovists) because this demon had wreaked so much havoc on the Israelites and the surrounding nations." So you're saying Yahweh told his followers not to pratice black magic so they couldn't follow him? Happy Guy must have one HUGE ass because he just pulled a ton of information out of it.
