This anointed class is just a non existent phantom the JWs have always been run by a select few at the HQs, a couple of people until the 1970's then 10 or 20 individuals after the GB took power in the 1970's. These are the real power while the rest are just space fillers. In addition the separation of the body of christians, though of course the JWs are not a christian church by any stretch of the imagination but rather an aberrant cult, into two categories is a gross distortion of the biblical teaching.

In all my time as a JW I could never understand what set the so called anointed apart since they didn't seem to be doing anything that the other JWs didn't do to mark them out as a different class. As for the GB members and the past presidents of the WTS it is well known that they are/were anything but exemplary christians and it's a mystery how such spiritual miscreants could receive the so called heavenly calling.

It's no wonder why the stats do not add up.

Indeed. The reason the WT for created a two class JW system was to stop the majority of JWs from believing the New Testament is for them.

    All Christians are anointed.

    Ephesians 1:13-14 (New International Version)

13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.

    Acts 2:17-18 (New International Version)

17 " 'In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
    and they will prophesy.

    Acts 2:38-39 (New International Version)

38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."

    Blessings, Stephen

The GB will probably just publish increasingly strong admonitions not to partake unless you're 100% sure and will hope to ride out these increases. A lot of it depends on whether its a local phenomenon (eg, African mainly, or Mexican's pouring into the US) or if it's a global trend. I'm not sure we have access to that information?

    Hi, dgp.

    Thank you for your reply.
And thank you for the further information.

And, many thanks for making me aware of the fact that most of the members of the Governing Body would not be considered "anointed" at all if the WTBTS had stuck to its original teaching about the "Generation" and the 144,000.

    Yeah.
In my opinion, most members of the current Governing Body are fakes/pretenders.

First of all, they themselves don't believe the JW doctrine most.
Therefore, they changed the "doctrine disadvantageous to the GB."

Well, another useful information is here.

And, their photograph which are "fakes/hypocrites" is here.

Probably, I think that this doctrine is the most absurd in the current JW's doctrines, IMO.
In short, the existence of the Governing Body itself is the most troublesome for JWs.

The doctrine as it stands is being eroded. Many people in the congs still check the partakers figure in the hope it goes down.

If the society ever wanted to get itself out of this pickle, it could abandon the idea that it's the first 144K true Christians who get the heavenly calling - I think they've done that already with the abandonment of the 'heavens doors shut in 1935' doctrine.

They could do a few study articles about how "many are called but few chosen", and say the calling is to accept Jesus & be a Christian. So many are called to be Christian, but few (144k) of those Christians are chosen to rule in heaven. They could then follow that up with a 'here I am, send me' article which would actually encourage the congregation to partake, thereby indicating their willingness to serve in heaven or on earth. Of course this would be couched in terms of 'a serious responsibility' , 'potentially willing to sacrifice your hope of earthly paradise'... You would then get potentially over a million partakers, all willing to be chosen.

By doing something like that, the society could keep the only 144k go to heaven doctrine, the paradise earth idea, and remove the problem they have if anyone actually thinks about the numbers...

In 2009, the number of "the anointed" exceeded 10,000 people.

Their doctrine has already broken completely.
Probably, among them, there is no people who believes that doctrine seriously, IMO.

Thank you very much again, Possible. The good thing about this thread is that someone who is not a JW arrived at the same conclusion you did, with somewhat different information. I hope many others will see the same thing.

And, looking at the graph you linked to, the lie becomes all the more transparent. If the trend continues, pretty soon they will have 288,000 partakers in a single year.

Is there a JW source for that 10,857 number? Who made the chart in your link, Possible?
