J.F.Rutherford was the best liar. He might deserve an entry of his own in the Guinness World Records for it (even if he seemed to believe at least part of what he said): In the middle of hard times he bought two film star class Cadillacs and told the poor members of the sect that he bought them for Moses and David. Now that's ingenious!

You made me remember a good friend who said the same thing many years ago. I noticed, he's still an active JW, but recently saw where he gives retirement seminars and writes in investing for a living. I also saw where he gave a sizable contribution to a Xmas pageant in Santa Barbara, was noted at their site for doing so. Showed it to my wife and when I was going to forward it to my nephew, I saw it was removed and shown as anonymous.
Obviously, his life shows he doesn't really believe the WT Inc stuff anymore, but its still the best way of life for him and his wife.
