well, if the "worldlies" have relatives
assimilated by the b0rg, there can be
quite a bit of animosity towards the JWs...

at a public symposium where i sat
on the dais as a panelist addressing
LGBTQ issues, in the meet and greet
that followed someone asked me, out
of the blue and unrelated to the content
or material in the presentations, about
my religious affiliation ( i MOANED) and
said "it embarrasses me to admit i spent
    20 years as a JW".....

hoooo leeeee crap! talk about setting
a match to a keg of dynamite! this guy
had JW family and was UBER-P!SSED
about the way a DF'd neice was being
shunned at her wedding by the dr0nes,
including her parents.... he even hollered
over to his wife to come over and join the
    diatribe against "those crazy ba$tards"
(trust me, i didnt have to say anything...
they kept each other riled and it went on
and on like the energizer bunny)

my parting shot was: well JWs act just
like they are in a cult because the game
is rigged so that there is no dignified exit,
should you happen to change you mind....

i saw the light go on

    he walked away muttering
"no dignified exit... i gotta remember that"

It depend on the area you are from..My area is southern california. In the 60,s and 70,s many

became JW, also in many our our major cities in US..The black community was hit hard ..In the

black community , if you ask them about JW, they will tell you, they are a cult, they break up

families, they never give to the community but first in line for the hand out. Everyone know someone

who is A JW, or someone in their family is A JW. There is never a postive remark.. My sister ( never A JW)

the church she attend, she has become the chief spokes-person to inform members in her church

of the danger if you become A JW..She has seen it first hand..

There are a few "worldly" ones I confide in. They say the stories just sound stranger

I'm with Baba Yaga on this. Never having been a dub and knowing nothing of them until discovering this site I inform people of just how strange and cult like they are. People are shocked by what I say because they too know nothing about them.

We are our own little club. Most people don't understand, and to that, I feel happy for them. We do. Thats all. Just one of life's (un)happy accidents.

Good points. Most wordly people are indifferent to this religion.
