A government does have the right to ban anything they feel they have to, it falls on the people to stop them.
As for why no coverage?
Well, to be honest more people care about who Tiger was playing hole- in- one with than the Jw's.

The only news outlet I could see reporting something like this is NPR.

Sad that this hasn't hit the mainstream news in the U.S and Canada. It would be good for North-Americans to see another angle of the WTS instead of just what the jws broadcast at the doors.
Maybe the news agencies are frightened of the powerful legal arm of the WTS.

Consider this possibility: Russian supreme court, in what appears to be a civil rights violation, siezes and bans JW stuff, calling it extremist. You're a reporter. In order to report accurately, YOU WOULD HAVE TO READ THAT CRAP to determine whether the Russians are right or the JWs are being persecuted for real.
No self-respecting journalist wants to read the Bible Teach book.
