    Welcome Jen!

I have found trust the hardest issue in my life. Do you work outside the home? If you don't, it's a great idea for you to get a job and begin to build confidence. That is part of the trust issue. You have to learn to trust yourself and your own judgment, before you will ever really be able to relax. You have to be able to tell yourself that even if things don't work out with this guy, you can make it. You need some life experiences of your own, without any manipulation or dependence.

Welcome Jen, I'm so sorry that you had to go through a literal hell on earth.

    We're glad you're here, nonetheless.

The real Jesus would welcome you unconditionally, not the Jesus of the WT nor any of the Jesus that a cult makes claims to

Welcome Jen! Like the others have said, you will be ok. Just disconnect from the witnesses for awhile and use your own judgement.

It might be wise to not make any decisions about your future and your relationship with this new man. Just enjoy your freedom and enjoy being on the earth free and happy. And enjoy your children.

The answers will come in time.

And we are here to listen.

The Jesus picture is creepy. Got wood? If his left hand went any lower he would have to see the Committee.

    Welcome, Jen.

That's just some chick diggin' on a hippie...

Welcome Jen. Yes, it will take some time to figure things out and to find the real you. Sounds like you've made a good start.

    Good luck...

Welcome to JWN! Please Google Lifton's Eight Criteria for a Cult and compare it to your experience. Every dire prediction that has been made about your future has been used by other cults. Once you educate yourself you will see that what you've experienced is nothing different than any other cult member. You may also want to get some professional counseling. You will be able to make it whether or not your boyfriend sticks around.

    Keep on posting.

Thank you so much for the kind words and support!

I am looking up the books mentioned and thought I'd ask if anyone had anyother recommendations for self-help books?

I have talked to my family Dr about leaving the JW's and she has given me a referral to a support group for abused woman - because that's how she views the whole shunning situation as well as pretty much all the mind control that's been going on all my life.
