Spent all day yesterday working on the plumbing in my sister's house

JD....good for you! How nice you could help out your sis. I wish more girls learned how to do their own repairs. What I find the most aggravating are the trips back and forth to Home Depot. There use to be little local hardware stores, wish they still existed.

I take care of most problems in the house. Learned from my dad, and years as a homeowner not wanting to get ripped off. My dad use to say to me, "If you can take it apart, you can put it back together." I still need hubby to do heavy duty stuff.

    r.

Besides, I got to tinker with my power tool toys and hand tools.

I find I have to start something and make a mess, then hubby gets out his power tools.

edit: poor chap - its usually after a long day at work

There are still local hardware stores around here. I prefer Home Depot.

My sister has her hands full with 3 kids and a full time job, and is pretty helpless when it comes to repairing anything mechanical. She's the kind of person who needs written instructions to do something, and she's afraid to take anything apart if she doesn't know how it works.

I, however, got in all kinds of trouble when I was a kid for taking things apart to see how they worked. lol

We has these in Canada. Our local Home Hardware stores are pretty good. And then in some very small places you'll get a mom and pop shop like "Bob's Hardware and Variety" or something like that.

Yeah! I love going into the hardware stores and lingering in the tool section(s). Canadian Tire has some behind lock and key. I covet these! ( sigh... )

Most of my toys require batteries, but that's off topic.

I'll have to admit, a man comes in handy every now and then, like the time a mouse shorted some wires in my dryer. Mr. Dinah had it all taken apart and called me to the laundry room. He was holding up a charred mouse, smiling, and said "Well, here's your problem!" About 30 minutes later, it was working again.
