Welcome Westcoastrocks . One of the problems with JWs is that they do not respect anyone else's beliefs. Your wife (as previously mentioned)will put the Cult before her own child. If you are denied custody, perhaps you can come to some arrangement whereby YOU have your lad while SHE attends meetings? (I know it's a long shot). I wish you well.

hi and welcome
I would not want to try to take him away from his mother, but I think everyone here knows what will happen if he is raised (indoctrinated) with my wife. I really hope that he will not sever ties with me one day, this is my new goal to keep this from happening. contrary to what Reniaa is trying to suggest, I can see that you have your child's best interests at heart
The WTS urgently needs to rethink its shunning, disfellowshipping policies. Unfortunately the courts are generally unaware of their divisive indoctrinating policies that are very likely to cause your son to receive a negative image of you and it is very likely that they will rule in her favour. At the end of the day if you are denied custody I hope that at the very least you can get joint custody or meaningful visitation rights . I think that you will have to be in the driving seat to investigate and negotiate as amicable an agreement as you can. I hope that your wife is reasonable.

What am I getting wrong? A man leaves his faith and religion finds his wife doesn't want to follow his change obviously being a person in her own right and having the right to follow her own God. and for that he has decided to take her newborn baby away from her if he can, If he went for joint custudy or access rights, I would be understanding but trying to take a 5 month old baby off it's mother because you no longer believe in the same God smacks of revenge.
No child of 5 months old when it a fully dependent on and bonded with it's mother should be taken at that age and only in the worst courts would that happen. It's not that this man would get this because I hope to goodness he doesn't but that he has thought up to take a 5 month old child off it's mother so young. This is the woman you made vows before God to and married and she carried your child for 9 months and shared your bed and life and yet you would tear the child from her arms in your new hatred of the religion you once loved?

reniaa, you contradict yourself.
on other threads you're telling non-witnesses that their mate has a right to leave (non-witness) the religion that they got married in and made their wedding vows for their freedom rights.
here you're telling that "you left the witnesses and you're the bad one"
please check your bias

reniaa, like the WT, changes her tune to whatever the current circumstances are to uphold the WT doctrine.....

Good god, what drama.
Instead of posting here, you should write Daniella Steele novels.

Welcome, Westcoastrocks! Just so you know, it is totally possible to raise principled children outside of any man-made religion. My brother and his wife have 3 great kids and they never belonged to any church/religion. You do not need to have any 'membership' with any man-made organization to embrace proper principles, have faith, and a relationship with God and Christ.
What am I getting wrong? A man leaves his faith and religion
First of all, he did not say he was leaving his faith. Secondly, faith and religion are 2 totally separate things. Thirdly, it is the JW mother who will deny access. Fourthly, he is trying to save his child from the destructive mind control that this cult exacts upon its members (you are a prime example of this). Fifthly, he is trying to save his child from possibly being molested. Sixthly, he doesn't need 'imperfect' men creating false doctrines to feed to his child.
Westcoastrocks... Stephen Covey has some great books and I highly recommend them. They contain 'True North Principles' . He has one called "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families" that you may wish to check out. I look forward to your contributions here.

Welcome Westcoastrocks,
Wish you the best for your life!
Beware of Reniaa. She is the "thorn" here and she doesn't listen to what the Faithful and Discreet Slave says about associating with so called "Apostates".

I know it sounds cruel to take a kid from mum
but what happens if you dont, they teach it to hate. You see I taught all the WT doctrines, to mine & when all THEIR
rules were firmly entrenched in their minds ,the WT tookthe kids away from ME!!! Only because I said I couldnt believe
Jesus came in 1914...... Gods speed go with you.
