Cougars vs. Dirty Old Men (Stud?)

  C. Rachel Hunter (Super Model-Rod Stewarts former wife) 37 years old and Jarret Stoll Edmonton Oiler 24 years old = Rachel is a Cougar

  D. Woody Allen 73 years old and Soon Yi Previn 37 years old (former daughter) = Dirty Old Man no matter how you look at it

  The list goes on and on.

  1. Why do much younger women date/sleep with old, ugly men?

  2. Why do younger men date/sleep with good looking older women?

  Thoughts/Opinions please.

  Honestly, would you, as a beautiful woman, want to climb in bed with Hugh Hefner? Woody Allen? Or any number of old men who parade around with young super models on their arms?

  The one thing they have in common, other than Cialis in their pocket, is money, lots of it, in the bank.

  Women who are older and dating younger men are always very well kept, are wearing makeup, have had plastic surgery and are doing all they can to stave off the aging process. They are very well off and since the men their age are old, ugly dogs who don't take care of themselves, they have decided to go the other direction.

  And for that they are labeled with a moniker that implies they are predatory.

  At least the women are trying to keep in shape and doing all they can to look good. They old moneyed men are complete dogs.

  So - what age gap do you consider to be big enough to fit into the parameters labels? Are all older women, regardless of age gap, cougars? Are all older men, regardless of age gap, studs or dirty? sammieswife.

  You act as if that is somehow worse than being labeled a "dirty, old man". My sister was over twenty years younger than her husband. She didn't marry him for his money, he didn't have that much. He didn't marry her because she was young. They genuinely loved each other.

  Gotta love the descriptions and comparisons of each description.

  Personally, anything over 15-18 years for me is too much. It starts to get into the *could be a parent, albeit young parent, range*. Different music, different movies, different clothing, etc.

  And yes, it is entirely possible to enjoy all those things from different generations. Enjoying things you don't like is a lot easier when the person whose stuff you don't like and you are trying to appreciate has lots of money to make you forget why you really dislike Mozart or Bach. Or Eminem. Or the BeeGees. Dollar signs and smiles cover up a lot.

  BTW, is there a name for men who date much younger women? Since women have recently been labeled Cougars, what is the label for men. My bad on Dirty Old Men. I apologize for that.

  And yet your own perception of each instance seems to be differen't. You've put the best possible spin on women who date much younger men, saying they do so because men their age are old, ugly dogs who don't take care of themselves. Meanwhile, you label men who do the same as "dirty, old men", using the most extreme cases to back up your assertion (Hugh Hefner, Woody Allen).

  Hence my question and request for thoughts and opinions.

  You are correct, that is my perception. I also have seen, in the media, much older, very wealthy women who were married to younger men. The men very obviously married them for the money. The men being very good looking and being considered playboys.

  I have not seen many wealthy, very old, very good looking men with very young women. The men seem to not care about their appearance since they have money to attract the opposite sex.

  Women, in general, no matter the age, still need to try to keep up their looks in order to justify a much younger man.

  Since this seems more to apply to celebrities, how many celebrities, especially men, who date people their own age? If these people were the average Joe on the street, would a member of the opposite sex, who was 35-50 years younger, really, honestly, date them? Seriously?

  I bet not.

  BTW, this is my last post of the day. I am limited to 10. I have only had 10 since I started on the board. I am not bad, evil or put on restrictions. I have never had more than 10. I have no idea when the posting restrictions are lifted. I can answer in 23 hours.

  I don't think it's that they don't care, they simply don't go to the lengths that women do to look younger than they really are. What's wrong with looking like you're in your fifties or sixties if you really are? It's called aging.

  It's true of both sexes. I don't too many men who would date a woman 35 years older than him, no matter how good she looked for her age.

  As for celebrities, there are quite a few men in their sixties that women still go wild over. Warren Beatty is one that comes to mind. And how many years are between Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones? Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart?

  Personally, I don't like putting any labels on people. Yes there are older men who date younger women simply to stroke their ego. Just like in some instances there are women who date much younger men simply because it makes them feel younger. But in many cases, these relationships are more complicated than labels such as 'cougar' or 'dirty old man' seem to imply.
