It is disgusting Jesus didn't provide the technology then for them to use these wonderfully superior modern methods ^^

You mean like the telephone, which JWs actually do use today?

Out of interest do you think Jesus and his appostles if here now would sit back on their computers and use the internet or TV to preach or would they prefer the personal less self-promoting touch?

If Armageddon was nigh as the JW's claim, then the urgency of that message would override any initial "personal touch". Get the message across to as many people as possible in the shortest time possible, then when people start to respond, talk to them personally about the message.

Of course the JW's wouldn't dream of doing this. If their real concern was getting the message out and saving lives they'd use any and all methods to shout it from the rooftops. But instead the GB have gotta keep the R&F so busy with fruitless tasks that yield very little results so that they don't have time to think.

    Typical antics of a cult.

right on!! The door to door preaching and reporting of time is totally a conltrol tactic. Absolutely nothing to do with finding and using the best or most biblical method. Must go door to door and save lives or suffer bloodguilt. But oh!, just a minute Jehovah draws all who he sees as having a good or righteous heart condition. All must have the opportunity to make a personal decision. OOps! that doesn't make sense any more because time is running out with armageddon coming next week/month/etc. so suddenly the end does not depend on every person hearing just get the preaching work done to the level that Jehovah is good with.

    Renaii:

"Out of interest do you think Jesus and his appostles if here now would sit back on their computers and use the internet or TV to preach or would they prefer the personal less self-promoting touch?

It sure would have helped poor Paul who walked miles between towns, Got shipwrecked and allsorts doing the preaching work in such a poor manner, It is disgusting Jesus didn't provide the technology then for them to use these wonderfully superior modern methods ^^"

DANG. Did someone hijack Renaii's avatar? Or has she loosened the grip of the Body Snatchers?

    Ren my dear,

Do you think that if Jesus and His apostles were here today they would be handing out Watch Towers? Do you think that they did it in their own time? Does the modern inventions you disparage include printing presses?

I remember the WT study that said that a person at Armageddy would not have the excuse that a JW never spoke to them.

"If these were honest-hearted ones, they should have been actively searching for the truth."

At least under the old understanding of sheep and goats, a person who died never having rejected the truth would get a resurrection. Under the new viewpoint (yes it is a MERE current viewpoint subject to arbitrary change to serve the agenda of the GB) everybody is better to die in ignorance.

Since the world population increases by 70 000 000 a year we can never speak to everybody - so in actual fact the guilting is to make the JW feel his salvation is not secure by his faith in Christ, but has to be bought, by seeking out sales targets and hopefully bringing in some MONEY...

Oh, and jesus did give the early Christians modern technology of the time - the CODEX.

Getting people to do it is a lot cheaper. Air time and radio time in major markets would cut dramatically into profits.

Rush Limbaugh only gets heard as much as he does because he's packaged very cheaply for rural radio markets who will take anything to fill air time.

So, if that's what it takes to get him on the air, imagine what investment it'd take to get a JW program regularly on radio, forget TV!

But, mostly the preaching work is designed to keep you in it as much as it is to get converts. Doing something inherently difficult makes some people believe even more that they have the true religion. You're sacrificing time money and dignity to preach, so you want to invest more belief to justify the sacrifice of all that. Basic cult psychology.

You don't think Hari Khrishnas go out and solicit because they love it, do you? Nah, same control factor. Do something demeaning for your faith, you want to justify staying with it that much more. The martyr factor, masochism, whatever.
