Incidentally, I read To Kill a Mockingbird this week Sylvia, and it's set in Alabama in the 1920's. Have you read it? What did you think?

Monroeville in Monroe County is the actual setting. Down the Alabama River from yours truly.
Of course, I've read it - several times.
I love the sympathetic way the Black characters are treated by Ms. Lee; there used to be a doctor in my town who was the personification of Atticus Finch.
All in all, along with the Bible, a must-read for anyone claiming to be civilized.
Do you remember the movie? Gregory Peck portrayed Atticus, and I believe, Brock Peters was Tom Robinson.
I wept copiously while watching the film.
