Most of the Bethelites I remember were thought to be all that but over time it was revealed that of the 6 that I knew 4 were actually mental cases who secretly beat their wives or had a huge porn problem.

All the single sisters are on high alert, you can smell the estrogen in the air. Who wouldn't want to be married to a dashing spiritual fellow whose career experience includes mopping floors and swapping out urinal cakes at Bethel?

Yep...I remember that well. Especially all the sisters swooning as if a young Paul McCartney had just walked in. And usually these guys weren't all that to look at...those Alfred E. Newman lookalikes (no offense to Farkel).

'Bethel rockstar heavies!' (Meeting Junkie No More).

What a powerful label! If the author reports of 'Bethel rockstar heavies', might it be correct to imply that there are also 'Bethel Superstar heavies'? If yes, then who would possibly fits into that category?

Thanks for your thoughts on Bethelite reverence.

    Here's a story with a letdown.
We were visiting a tropical island during the time of the Memorial last year. I was already faded, but went.
(There's a thread I have about why I went, but that's not important.)
The Spanish congregation arranged for a Branch Servant to give the Memorial talk. The English cong. convinced him to give their talk also.

The guy may have gotten the accolades from the Spanish cong. later, the Spanish sisters may have had their estrogen in overdrive later, but I attended the English meeting which was held first. English was not this guy's strong language.

He read the outline. His reading of the outline was dull. If you didn't already know JW beliefs, you wouldn't have figured them out from his talk. It was just a reading without smoothing out the outline into English sentences. It was just aweful. There was a reluctance to go up to him afterward. People knew they would have to comment on the talk. Some finally ventured up to him, mostly the elders and the upwardly mobile from what I could assume. Sisters seemed to hold back. I heard some small talk that consisted of "Thanks for coming." It was a way of avoiding commenting on the talk. Outside, away from the Branch speaker, NOBODY, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY discussed the talk. Discussion was about all other things, but not the talk. What a letdown.

I imagine it was different for the Spanish.

Waffles mentions that "...all the single sisters are on high alert, you can smell the estrogen in the air" and the OnTheWayOut indicates in his brief comments which implies that "...the Spanish sisters may have had their estrogen in overdrive..."

Please, can you expand and clarify on what you meant by those statements above?

    Thanks

I meant nothing about menapause or the normal concerns about estrogen.
The common reference is that they may have recognized their womanly needs and desires and saw a Bethelite as "fresh meat" to try to attract with their feminine charms (estrogen level being high signifies doing their best to be "womanly" or "desirable.").

What we are saying is that women who sacrificed all for Jehovah, even to the point of remaining virgins until they can find a good brother, see a "good" brother and compete for him.

It's not such a big thing here in the UK because we have a comparatively large bethel compared to the number of dubs in the country. I know congregations that have sent half a dozen young lads to bethel over the past 10 years.

I was simply referring to the fact that the uber-faithful sisters who have remained white-as-snow virgins get a little juicy at the thought of a scriptural courtship and proper marriage to an over-achieving spiritually zealous man within the organization.

Help, how do you quote on this board?

I have to agree. A bethel brother is a dream to a single sister.

You mean they were having difficulty obtaining porn. Weird.
