I'm taking an art class just as an elective and I was trying to remember this pic. It's been so long but I can REMEMBER this pic! It was a depiction of hell it might have been a reprint of a hieronymus bosch pic but I seem to remember it was more hinduish...

I think the book it was in was green and had to be early 70's or before... It had little people getting tortured spitted over fires etc...

Clearly not something a kid should be looking at! Lol...

Does anyone have any recollection of this picture? Is it possible to get a scan of it? I want it for class but I don't even know where to start! I just remember seeing it as a kid.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, those aren't it. I think it was black and white and was drawn from a distance the figures were quite small and they were like ants all over the picture no real 'detail' just dozens and dozens of tiny people being tortured... It was like a where's waldo in hell!

I think I remember the same picture; I looked at it a lot as a kid. Definitely Hinduish. I can't remember if it was in a book, or booklet, or Awake! magazine. Hmmmm. Might've appeared more than once.

All I really remember is the little dudes on spits in the bottom of the picture... I could swear the book was green... THe stuff you guys are posting is way better then this was, this was almost a scetch drawing... Of course now that I'm older I realize the erotic nature of the picture I mean little nude people spitted over fires? Hello snuff porn anyone! And kids just fascinated by that pic... Nice, really @#$ing nice...

Anyway please keep looking! I really really want that pic for my class!

I found this pic both fascinating in a bizarre sort of way as well as reminisent of something in the bone chuch pictures I posted a long time ago.

This is a Hindu wall tapestry. I have no other information on it.

It looks like they are boiling the children in a big swimming pool with fire underneath. Children are climbing the trees and the birds are swooping and children are being pecked. Do the birds represent the fallen angel/demons?

The figures hanging from trees are hanging from hooks, which are apparent if you enlarge the pic. Human figures have heads of boars and elephants. The actions of the figures depict beastly violence.

Why do the figures have flames coming from their heads? Does this represent that they are servants of the "fire gods"?

When depicting Hell in more recent times, they simply use photos of Detroit.
