quietlyleaving: "yummy - whats next on the calender - I can't wait"
Tuesday was Fastnacht Day here in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Fastnachts are heavy, doughy rolls that are dipped in molasses -- ugh! Some people make a lighter and sweeter version that's more like doughnuts. They're OK, but I can live without them.
It's now Ash Wednesday, so according to tradition, you shouldn't indulge in rich food until Easter Sunday. We usually have baked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, asparagus, hot dinner rolls, a light wine, and banana split cake for dessert. Have to wait till Easter for it, though.
