    thanks yesidid

I see now how easy it is to manipulate so called facts and figures and make them support apocalyptic interpretation.

Will dubs consider that these are selected earthquakes according to historical interest.

Also the figs seem to be according to how much destruction they caused. In the course of history increases in population and built up areas are of course going to influence the numbers of "deadly and destructive" earthquakes that are incorporated in the graph.

It woild be interesting to to see how population figs interact witht he graph. I don't have time this morning as I have a class.

Of course one would need information as accurate as todays going back centuries to do a real comparison, but should not a huge spike of increased Quake activity have occured around 1914 according to Dubs? Pretty flat around then according to their own graph, and anyway doesn't Jesus say wars e'quakes etc "But the End is not yet" ?

I guess they missed the new light in the WT that says earthquakes are not on the increase, and that they don't need to be for the prophecy to be fulfilled.

well according to my theory, you have to consider that, in fullfillment of Russell's prophecy, thousands died in WW1, flu epidemics, pestilence etc. So dubs could argue the earthquakes did happen but because they weren't "deadly and and destructive" they weren't counted in. bye for now

The graph has been taken from a list of “s elected earthquakes of general historic interest" and naturally lists more quakes in the last few years and is certainly not designed to represent a comprehensive list.

The author of the email must realise this - very misleading. The WTS has admitted that there hasn’t been any noticeable increase in seismic activity in the last century.

the reason why it may look like there is an increase is because humans have become increasingly more adept at creating instruments that can measure quakes all over the world, be it in the sea, deserts, populated areas.

That graph is so deceptive it infuriates me. It is graphed as if it is a complete number of all earthquakes, whereas it is just a sampling. The website that the information is taken from actually says:

"Although it may seem that we are having more earthquakes, earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or greater have remained fairly constant throughout this century and, according to our records, have actually seemed to decrease in recent years. There are several reasons for the perception that the number of earthquakes, in general, and particularly destructive earthquakes is increasing. 1) A partial explanation may lie in the fact that in the last twenty years, we have definitely had an increase in the number of earthquakes we have been able to locate each year. This is because of the tremendous increase in the number of seismograph stations in the world and the many improvements in global communications. In 1931, there were about 350 stations operating in the world; today, there are more that 4,000 stations and the data now comes in rapidly from these stations by telex, computer and satellite. This increase in the number of stations and the more timely receipt of data has allowed us and other seismological centers to locate many small earthquakes which were undetected in earlier years, and we are able to locate earthquakes more rapidly.” http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learning/faq.php?categoryID=6&faqID=110
Earthquakes have been constant for thousands, if not millions, of years. http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/earthquakes.htm goes into detail about the stats on earthquakes and the dishonest nature of Watchtower articles discussing it.
