The WTS teaches that 7 billion people are going to die forever, including children, and right soon, and only 7 million people are going to survive.

    7,000,000,000

    7,000,000

Yeah Blondie's got it right. At least that was my understanding back in the day. I don't know if current teachings have changed or not.

Is this supposed to be an estimation? Or do they have some number theory to try to justify it, like their feeble attempts at dates?

Is it just a "lucky seven" thing they pulled out of the air?

But they teach that people can live forever. In paradise, even.

So if the earth does not last forever....where will these people live?

currently approximately 7 billion non jws on the earth

currently approximately 7 million jws on the earth

All nonjws are scheduled to die at Armageddon, only jws will survive, and the WTS teaches that the end is VERY SOON NOW.

Those numbers are adjustable depending on when NOW is.

*** w89 9/1 p. 19 par. 7 Remaining Organized for Survival Into the Millennium ***Only Jehovah’s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil. (Revelation 7:9-17; 2 Corinthians 4:4) They will make up the "flesh" that Jesus Christ said would be saved through the worst tribulation of all human history.
*** w07 3/15 p. 25 par. 18 Angels—How They Affect Mankind ***Angels will serve as God’s executional forces in the near future. Very soon now, Jesus will come "with his powerful angels in a flaming fire." Their mission will be to bring "vengeance upon those who do not know God and those who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus." (2 Thessalonians 1:7, 8)

Whether or an event like that could fit into the jw's worldview, it would bring surviving jws closer together. Even though it's not exactly like their armegeddon, it's what they have been trained for, afterall.

As to the physical earth lasting forever, the WTS has said this:

*** w06 1/1 p. 30 Questions From Readers ***The psalmist adds: "They [earth and heavens] themselves will perish, but you yourself will keep standing." (Psalm 102:26) The physical earth and heavens are perishable. True, Jehovah stated elsewhere that they will last forever. (Psalm 119:90; Ecclesiastes 1:4) But they couldbe destroyed if this was God’s purpose. In contrast, God cannot die. The physical creations keep "standing forever" only because God maintains them. (Psalm 148:6) If Jehovah ever stops renewing the physical creations, then "just like a garment they will all of them wear out." (Psalm 102:26) As a man outlives his clothes, so Jehovah could outlive his creation—if he chose to do so. However, we know from other scriptures that such is not his will. God’s Word assures us that Jehovah has determined that the literal earth and heavens will remain forever.—Psalm 104:5.

    Dear Friends:

Your thoughts and questions are much appreciated.

Thank you, Blondie, for focusing on specific Society comments based on their understanding of Scripture.

And then, of course, there's the inevitable 'we are God's chosen few ...'
