What Little Rebellious Things Did You Do When Still A JW?

I too was kind to the disfellowshipped people. In fact, I would boldly pass out pictures of my daughter to them in front of everyone, and intentionally sit on in front of them with my new baby girl and prop her over my shoulder so she could make them smile and laugh during the meeting... I did the gum thing, and when counseled on it pointed out the facts I saw on "Dateline" that when chewing gum, it is proven you retain more information because you are stimulating more brain activity and I was trying to reap more information from the meeting!!!! Take that one elders... Lets not forget the slits too high and the denim skirts that were not allowed... and the "ooops, is there a teeny bit of clevage showing?"

Always loved listening to Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, still do ! I never hid any of my music I loved . Also occasionally snuck and watched R rated movies while my self-righteous jw ex-wife couldn't see me , when she was gone ! Since I rarely got very much sex - I'd bop off in a corner to movies like " Basic Instinct " with Sharon Stone . Was the only relief I'd get very much ! Sad, sad days. Now - I get all the lovin and sex I want ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I must preface the fact that we did these things after we had kind of had it. Went back to college( in the midst of a home schooling very anti education cong), then my husband went back to school, let my kids play sports and associate with neighborhood kids, worked occasionally for sick co workers on meeting nights, left at half time on Sundays sometimes to go have some fun, met for service once with our bathing suits on under dress clothes( we were in the pool by 11am). Had open discussions about religion with neighbors and co workers and didn't try to convert them. And the worst, chewed gum at the KH and the assembly hall!

I smoked cigarettes, cigars, and pot. I got drunk a lot. I took enough painkillers to give me a good buzz, and then I'd stay home from the meetings. I watched porn and other R rated movies. I swore a lot. I talked to DF'd people, and went out drinking with a few. I wouldn't show up for many of my talks. I argued with the elders a lot. When they counseled me for wearing a bright tie I immediately went out and bought a florescent one. When they counseled me for having a neatly trimmed moustache I let it get very bushy. If the elders came to me to complain about my wife I would take her side and tell them to get lost. I told them I was her head, and they should be coming directly to me if there was a problem, and leave her the hell alone. There was no scripture that said she had to be in subjection to every man, only to her husband. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised I lasted 20 years in that cult.

I did watch an R rated movie on occasion. Snuck in a South Park episode. Toward the last few years, I watched whatever the hell I wanted. My conscience didn't bother me a bit!

I threw away a few albums, esp Queens Greatest Hits!!! (what a d-bag I was) I still need to buy that again.

This does raise a thought in my head that I hadn't crystalized, but as I look back, I picked and chose what I believed and practiced out of the WT. I was in the habit of disregarding what I considered to be sometimes petty rules that were ridiculous.

The GB and their minion writers have become experts at saying that they "aren't making any rules" and that "your conscience should make the call" while sending letters to elders making de facto rules and saying that if your conscience isn't "bible trained" (i,e, GB trained) then you really shouldn't follow your conscience.

Because of that, if there was a typical gray area comment from the borg, I would know who the "SR's" were in my congo and be sure that they never got a whiff of what I did. Like I answered to them anyway.

When I was in, the Gestapo wanted me to be a model for everyone, so they would not let me do much of anything out of the rulebook without extra hounding. They were counting on me joining the Value Destroyer Training School (and still are, for all I know). So, the slightest "mistake" would result in houndings until it was fixed.

Now, not only I do not wear a white dress shirt, but I don't even wear a suit at all. Not only do I not listen only to the 225 pieces of Kingdumb sxxx, I listen to rap music and Christmas songs (not to mention that "evil disco that leads to fornication" (albeit it has not led to fornication for me). They wanted to be involved in decorating my apartment (witless style=drab), so I have it decorated for Christmas to the hilt. They complained about buttons on my suit that had "pagan" origins (hounding me to replace them with plain ones, even though I got the damn suit from them), so now I have a Ouija board. I also joined a "secret society" that they warned against, that has taught me that there is nothing wrong with thinking on my own. I got a computer (part for that "secret society" so I could participate and part for doing apostasy). And I haven't been to a boasting session since the 2005 REJECT Jesus Party.
