This is wonderful! You see, a Jehovah's Witness would see their door to door ministry as a community service, offering to teach you how to escape the judgment of Armageddon. So that tax credit turns out to be worth $4000 for 100 hours, which makes the preaching work get paid $40 an hour of your tax money. Brilliant!

Warning to
OsamaObama: Do that, and you will be impeached. The Watchtower Society is nothing but a for-profit company that puts out Bibles (altered ones at that) and literature that twists the meaning of the Bible around. Serving as Jehovah's Witnesses does NOT constitute public community service! That will go down as the biggest waste of my tax dollars in history. You will be helping them start the whole world into the Second Dark Ages, protect pedophiles in the ranks, and spreading that cancer worldwide. I would rather have the tax dollars spent in something worthwhile--like, protecting the people from initiatory force and fraud from within and without.
Or, maybe I could spend $40 an hour of your tax dollars preaching the message that the only moral things are volitional acts that are good for self and/or society, the only immoral things are volitional acts that are bad for self and/or society, and everything else is in that "Mind your damn business" category. It would be much closer to Jesus' actual message, and extremely simple for people to learn. It would also demystify the whole moral code so people could actually focus on actually doing it instead of learning complex code that requires decades of flip-flopping to arrive at, and still confuses even those running the show.

I have the Obama-Biden Blueprint For Change saved on my computer, which seems to say more than his web site does about this:
"Require 100 Hours of Service in College: Obama and Biden will establish a new American Opportunity Tax Credit that worth $4,000 a year in exchange for 100 hours of public service a year."
Is that what you're talking about, or is it something different?
If this is it, it would seem we don't have a lot to worry about, because most jws aren't doing 100 hours of field service while they're in college.
I'm sure there will be a legal definition of "public service" that one has to meet in order to qualify. Preaching isn't really a service to anyone but the preacher so he can get himself into the New System.
Watch the Federal Register to see if this is brought for public comment, and you can have your say about the qualifications for this tax credit. -

When my daughter was in high school and applied for the IB Programme, she was told that preaching from door-to-door did not qualify as a community service.
Baby Girl had to do some actual work, i.e., tutoring, mentoring, planting trees along highways, cleaning up litter, visiting nursing homes, etc.
I was so thrilled!

Snowbird, its was the same for some of the teens in our congo. They were required to do so many hours of community service as part of their senior year. They tried to use the preaching working but the school denied it. The parents complained and so the school supervisor asked them to submit paperwork of how it qualified as community service. Even that was shot-down.
The JW teens had to actually help at food banks, etc. The brothers told them if they preached to someone or placed a tract then they could also count it as field service time because it was just Satan just trying to get them out of the ministry.
If they could find a loophole to get some money for preaching, I'm sure they would.

LOL.
The IB Coordinator in our area explained that there was no apparent tangible benefit to the community to justify viewing d2d as a service.
So much for the WT's insistence that it's a lifesaving work, huh?

The WT already has a history with Hitler [http://www.randytv.com/Hitler/watchtower_hitler.htm ] , so why not with Obama, the "new Hitler"?

The WT has ruled against its members accepting State Benefits in order to "Pioneer"
In the U K a "Jobseekers Allowance" can be claimed if you are out of work. During the last recession a directive was received in the congo's saying that elders should not accept Pioneer Applications from dubs on this benefit, they were supposed to be looking for work and it would not be right to use State funds to do their work.

Who knows what the WT will do about anything. They are "all over the place" these days.
But if your "Oh come now" was re: Obama policies being similar to Hitler, all I can do is share some articles/commentaries/links...

"Do You Remember That George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton Also Called For a National Community Service Program Early In Their Presidency?"
President George H.W. Bush called for "volunteerism" in 1990, and Clinton's National Community Service Program of 1993 were based squarely on the Hitler model, just as Barack Obama's Universal Service Plan.
