I think she should go and when the dickheads 'publically humiliate' her, she should stand up and cry out to the moron who's on stage: "You told me that if I gave you a blowjob you wouldn't report me!!" and then storm out in a huff.

Mary I like the way you think. When I grow up I want to be just like you.

I firmly believe that the pastor of this church will be in the news for adultery within the next five years. Why? Because people who tyrannize others have something to hide themselves.

The knife-in-the-gut statement is this: “It was hard to give up somebody I love.”

Why should that have to be? Why in the world are people constantly separated for being in love?

It's a bad way to handle it. I know of a local home church where this sort of thing would happen. From what I hear, attendance is now zero. Other denominations have private confessions, not public humiliations.

She's mad these wingnuts are going to announce her sin to the church, so she goes to the media and spreads the info much further, and puts the cherry on top of this hot mess sundae by posting a letter with her home address on the Internet. Ta-da!

She's teetering between having balls of steel and brains of mush.

I'll give JG credit...it is what the Bible says to do -- unlike what the JW's do in their secret tribunal JC's. If JW's and other churches did the same they would expose themselves as the intolerant anal-retentive fear-mongering busy-bodies they truly are.

And droves of members would leave. Just like Frank Burns suggests. Hey... you disagreein' wit da Holy Woid of God ?

Fear makes people do extraordinary things. I feel for those young kids, Mary & Joseph, so long ago. They loved each other...emotionally and physically. She got pregnant. Excuses needed to be made, quickly -- now. Did Mary & Joseph have a secret JC? Did he have say, "Ah, did not have sexual relations with that woman -- Mary!" ? They said, "God did it!" That motivation would be easy to understand, considering the alternative -- death by stoning for the 3 of them. They got lucky, had some elders or other influential people who loved and protected them.

I don't blame them a bit. Their lives were on the line and they aren't responsible directly for the state of Abrahamic descended religions today. Their lie to preserve their lives and that of the "illegitimate" baby they named Jesus was prompted not by understanding or compassion, but religious Fear.

I don't mean to be offensive. Having a baby out-of-wedlock has been happening to young lovers for a long, long time. I have no idea if my version of the story is the correct one or not. Mary could have been raped and no one heard her scream (if she did). Again -- Joseph didn't want Mary put to death, so he did a noble thing. No one can prove the Bible's story or mine -- right or wrong. But, which is more likely? What are the odds?

Fear makes people do extraordinary things.
