BB, my father first used the white booklet “Shepherds of the flock”(?) I dont remember it having the large margins like the Pay Attention. I certainly remember him telling me about the “no notes”. Could it be that elders were instructed not to take notes during certain sections of the school? Or not to write down special instructions (“make sure no police is called in cases of paedophilia!”)? It must have been around 1988 the year I got baptised.
A question: Did KM actually announce "no private tapings of assembly parts?

I remember one KM did announce "no tapping private parts during assembly". Perhaps this is what you remembered?

Sixofnine: no, certainly not. I had a long conversation about this with my father, because I found it strange. But its nice to see Blondie is having fun! :-) Elders were to take notes during the school as can be seen here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/8/122629/1.ashx But just like they were told to destroy delicate congregation records, were they told not to write down delicate wt-instructions? I dont mean to high jack this thread.

Because of our being such a trusting brotherhood, some may at times accept and listen to copies of tapes from others without ascertaining their origin.
So by this comment they are implying that apostates are going to the trouble of taping fake dramas and parts to make them look bad. Why would someone do that when the wts has so much stupid stuff so readily available -

How things have changed: Whatever elese can be said about Knorr and Franz was that they were public figures, keen to have their quotables reprinted in the press; however eccentric their doctrines, much of what they said at least in the large public venues was for mass consumption. It was a lot easier for the average JW to envisage them in the mold of latter-day figures from the book of Acts. By contrast, he current brood of WT leaders are secretive, publicity-averse, reclusive, not particularly known for spiritual insights and in all too many cases mean-spirited.
