Selective quoting is much of what appears in the Trinity brochure.....whether one believes in the Trinity or not, the way the references are used in that brochure is very deceptive, much like the reference used here.

A doctor ordering a blood transfusion is like...

a car speeding towards a brick wall.

The doctor can never be "certain" of when the last moment exists to put on the brakes. Is it 100 feet, is it 50 feet, is it 30 feet, is it 10 feet? Is the road wet, the brakes and tires in top shape? A human is more intricate than a car. At some point, the doctor has to make a medical care decision. Each patient will be different.

But, should the patient's religion be constantly changing and allow 100% of ALL blood "fractions", despite saying that blood is sacred, to be poured on the ground, and never reused.

Should the patient's decision be considered autonomous, when the consequences for disobeying the religion include shunning and the loss of confidentiality of one's medical records by faithful followers who are ordered to snoop and spy for elder reports?

There is such a thing as fair use under the copyright law. Fair use allows people to quote other publications without penalty of violating copyright.

But I believe that the context/meaning must be the same as intended by the original author, doesn't it?

Transfusions should only be as a last resort, but in cases of massive blood loss, the choice is often blood or death....and I would choose blood (life)

    fair use:

Fair use is a copyright principle based on the belief that the public is entitled to freely use portions of copyrighted materials for purposes of commentary and criticism. For example, if you wish to criticize a novelist, you should have the freedom to quote a portion of the novelist's work without asking permission. Absent this freedom, copyright owners could stifle any negative comments about their work.

Unfortunately, if the copyright owner disagrees with your fair use interpretation, the dispute will have to be resolved by courts or arbitration. If it's not a fair use, then you are infringing upon the rights of the copyright owner and may be liable for damages.

The only guidance is provided by a set of fair use factors outlined in the copyright law. These factors are weighed in each case to determine whether a use qualifies as a fair use. For example, one important factor is whether your use will deprive the copyright owner of income. Unfortunately, weighing the fair use factors is often quite subjective. For this reason, the fair use road map is often tricky to navigate.
