Online. Later in life [she's 51]. No major university.

Still - having overcome the burden of Jw thinking, and with the incentive of a recent lay-off from her 10 years with the company she worked for, she is jumping a hurdle. The degree might eventually allow her to make some job choices that she wants. But mostly it will make her happy to have accomplished something that a terrible cult held her away from most of her life.

And - it is making me quite proud of her moxie in so doing.

That's great. I am trying to convince my wife to go back to school for the very reasons you list. I think it will help her feel much more accomplished in life.

Tell her this almost-55-year-old hag plans on doing the same.

I'm getting my degree online in History - if it takes me 20 years to do so.

Oh c'mon. I bet you look good.

Awesome! History is fascinating. I want to go back next year for Economics.

    That's awesome!

One of the regrets I have is not taking up two offers for college. I just didn't see how I could do it, working 60 hrs per week and going to meetings and FS without killing myself. And of course, that guilt and the extra added weight of the end coming any minute. **sigh**

It's on my bucket list now.

I've been told that I clean up pretty good.

    History is my best subject.

Jeff, please stop her if you possibly can before it's too late!

    First comes Higher Education.

Next comes smoking, alcohol & drug abuse. It's just a matter of time.

See the September 1 Watchtower article: "Consider the End Afterward".

p.s. Seriously, give her a "high five" from me.

    Awesome. She won't regret it.

A client of Barbara Sher (author and motivational speaker) was incredulous when Ms. Sher suggested she go to college to get a degree. "Do you know how old I would be when I graduated?" to which Barbara Sher answered, "Yes. The same age you will be if you don't." (Apologies if the quotes are not exact, the gist is there and it certainly stuck with me!)

Congrats and godspeed to you and yours!

    Love,
    Baba.
