The meek little Ministerial Servant who goes off to college only to wind up as a gay porn star. The sweet little Pioneer sister who goes to college and ends up as a sex slave in the Hell's Angels. The chaste theocratic couple who go to college together and end up as cocaine using swingers in San Francisco. ******************** I KNEW I should have finished college.

Funny, because last Sunday's Craptower study, paragraph 3 stated: "...As Christians, we take a position different from that of the world. It is not that we blindly do whatever we are told. On the contrary, at times we must refuse to submit to the will of others even if they have positions of authority...."

Yet at the same time they try telling you: "do not lean upon your own understanding"

Sooo, my question is: If we don't "lean upon our own understanding", how exactly do you know that you're not blindly following someone??

Great point Mary....the most important thing people need to be taught is how to think for themselves....and that is something that the WTS does a great job of taking from people, and when it starts with the WTS, it will transfer to other parts of ones being.

The irony is that you are expected to use your power of reason in order to arrive at the view that the Witnesses have the "truth" in the first place. It is only thereafter that your own thoughts are to be distrusted in favour of an outside authority, namely the Watchtower organization.

i used to think that privately even at 14 years old...........that's how transparent the manipulation tecniques are...........the problem lies when you don't trust your own instinct or thinking. Then, they can gradually take control of your mind and you are in their power. CULT tactics.

The WTS wants you to think and analyze when the purpose is to trash and eventually eschew other religions (if you are part of one) but once you're signed up, that requirement does not apply to their own teachings. All of a sudden, you're an "Independent thinker" which, according to the WTS, is a bad thing.

Yes Easyreader. It is the 9-1-2008 issue , page 10 in the green box. "What will be the end afterward"? Higher education is equated with smoking, drug use, using the internet for a personal profiles and watching a movie with violence with and immorality. I have to admit when I went back to school I did have to contend with the constant pressures of the sex slave industry (they apparently need middle aged mommies) but I resisted!
