Do JW's reveal all their doctrines to those they study the Bible with?

Exactly right, Jamie - nor the full details of "screaming during rape", nor the inexplicable rules upon rules about blood fractions, not the prudish sex rules, etc...I would also just bet that in 90% of new conversions, some form of misrepresentation is made on the true view of college for your kids, and the practically unwritten rule that you are either expected to convert your non-believing relatives & friends, or treat them as "part of the world" - thus practically shunning them as if they were on some sort of public reproof.

Examples: As a potential or new convert, you would never imagine that the organization would have members who are child molesters and wife beaters, let alone that such abusers will continue to have domination over their victims due to the two witness rule and the fact that a battered wife must prove adultery on the abuser's part even if her life is in danger in order to be able to remarry.

Also never truly spelled out is how impossibly hard it is to leave this organization if you should find that it is not for you.

While they may give a slight mention to disfellowshipping, none of the real-world effects of it are made clear.

Point (1). When young children are baptized it is their decision. They come from families who are already serving Jehovah. They aren't pulled off the streets and forced into baptism.

Point (2) The screaming during rape is a Biblical mandate ... not made up by man.

Point (3) Not being able to remarry except on the grounds of adultery is Scriptural .. not a manmade law.

Point (4) There is no recruitment. The Good News of the Kingdom is being preached worldwide as Scripturally foretold. Again no man-made rule.

It's not like anyone is holding a gun to someone's head and saying ... 'you'd better join'. We aren't talking about baboons or morons. Everyone has the freedom to choose to accept or reject the message.

If you read all BonaFide's posts you will see he has not suffered shunning.

Someone has claimed he acted indecently with her and she reported it. Now other sisters are coming forward saying the same thing. BF's repy??? I thought they liked it!!!!

He claims to be an active JW, having been a MS, elder, Co, pioneer (now), and special pioneer.

With all this behind him he actually posts a thread at this level??? I don't think so.

    What Outlaw said.

Here is the JW message in a nutshell:

"Worship God my way, or my God will kill you."

Actually, sadly, that's pretty much been the message of Christianity in general for most of the past 2000 years........at least the JWs have progressed beyond the "Worship God my way or I will kill you" message that was popular for quite a few centuries.

What are you talking about, NO RECRUITMENT? - you know as well as we do that JWs are supposed to be recruiting new members with every waking moment of their lives, if possible. Of course they are saying "you'd better join". The gun to someones head is destruction at Armageddon.

The carrot is the completely unbiblical idea of an eternal paradise earth, and the many-times failed hope that it would come in the person's mortal lifespan here on earth. A hope that has failed again and again for untold thousands of victims..

Everyone has the freedom to accept or reject the message until they have been brainwashed, as you have apparantly been. After that, escape is ugly and difficult - many times at the loss of a spouse or family.

Kids less than legal age cannot fully make such a decision. If they are from JW families, then they have been moulded into this for a lifetime - making it even more impossible for them to guage what they are doing. It is not a free decision.

The idea that you cannot divorce a person for nearly killing you is immoral. If you do not think it is biblical, so be it - but it is better than being killed.

There are many circumstances in which a person could not scream, but was truly raped. Your JW idea of this law is like the Talmud.

Christianity is based on compassion and mercy - not on a rote set of inflexible laws. The JW have gone so far beyone biblical basis for many of their laws that it no longer matters whether they can or can not point to some vague scripture for a basis...smoking would be a great example of this. No where in the bible, but as much a DF offense to the JWs as a rape while you were being throttled into silence.

choosing life: They absolutely conceal their doctrines until someone is well along in their studies. How many of us would have gone to the door and talked to just anyone about the blood issue or that jws are the only true religion? No, we lured people in with a paradise earth and never having to die. We saved the real truth until later.

Hm. This gives me an idea. Why can't we get dressed up one Saturday and go in field service, spreading the true doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses from door-to-door and in the streets?

That would be a good black-propaganda move.

We could tell nothing but the unvarnished truth about the JW doctrine, explaining to people that Jesus is NOT the mediator for all mankind, how sad it makes us to know that most of our neighbors and many of our family members are going to die at Armageddon if they don't become Jehovah's Witnesses, how happy we are that the world has never been worse off than it is right now (and try hard to get them to agree) proceeding to the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses are the happiest people on earth (try to get them to agree, again), how reliant we are on the direction of the Governing Body—without whom we would have no truth.

I think that is just a grand idea.

Rosalee: Everyone has the freedom to choose to accept or reject the message.

If they do not KNOW what they are accepting or rejecting, they choose from ignorance.

Within the book Pay Attention to Yourselves and to All the Flock are many procedures and organizational policies that are not published anywhere else and to which women are never supposed to have access. Men can only have access after appointment as elders, long after baptism. Once you are baptized it is moot whether or not you knew about these policies and procedures beforehand. You are held accountable to them whether or not you knew them.
