What kind of FALSE PROPHET is Jehovah's official mouthpiece?

The False Prophet is not like the mistaken scientist or misguided philosopher---just a person in error.

The False Prophet is either a deceiving imposter or a self-deceived victim of his own pathology.

Any who would identify themselves as "prophet" is laying claim to a special agency of communication beyond the powers of mere mortal man.

What credentials must such a person obtain? What makes them special above all others. Are they in contact with the Supreme Being or in league with Satanic powers? Have they special knowledge of nature?

For non-believers, any such claim is misleading superstitious nonsense which appeals only to the gullible.

For believers, it comes down to hearing a variation on the following:

THINGS ARE BAD. THEY ARE GETTING WORSE. THIS IS A SIGN THAT......X.....IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.

No person employed as seer, soothsayer or prophet ever went broke predicting calamity or extreme conditions in the immediate future!

The False Prophet counts on the usual amount of chaos and upheaval somewhere in the world such as bad weather, earthquakes, disease, wars and rampant fears. He must only take care never to be TOO SPECIFIC to escape detection as bullshit artist.

The best way to get caught lying is to be too specific. Consequently, the famous prophets of history couched their warnings and predictions in some sort of gibberish which relied on interpretation to allow them wiggle room just in case nothing happened.

The Oracle of Delphi and Nostradamus are two such examples. So guarded and non-specific were the pronouncements of these self-styled seers that only in retrospect were true believers able to read into the quatrains some semblance of correspondence with actual events. Always AFTER THE FACT.

Perhaps the most famous prophecy of all, the second coming of Christ is the best example.

The usual "signs" are given which always seem to be happening such as wars, rumors of wars, eating and drinking, marrying, etc. But, further, tricky parallels are assigned which grant portentious "meanings". Caution is admonished that "no man deceive you". Enough non-information is assembled in the New Testament so that this prophecy ALWAYS APPEARS TO BE COMING TRUE for any decade and any generation!

Only the prophet who is so stupid and caught up in his own pathology would fall victim to being TOO SPECIFIC and thus identifying himself clearly as "FALSE PROPHET" when the specific event does not happen when predicted.

    Another thing...

Christian prophets call what they do "prophecy" and claim God is the originator of their message. The further call what anybody else does as "divination" and mark it as being from evil and Satanic sources.

In the marketplace of superstition, there is always a keen interest on things being predicted and on a fierce competition between liars trying to corner the market.

In our own time we have astrologists, trance channelers, religious soothsayers and necromancers all claiming special and significant inside knowledge otherwise unobtainable.

Wherever a prophet sets up shop, money changes hands and the gullible's thirst for miraculous foreknowlege is titillated for cash.

Yet, it is all so easy to fake (unless you are too specific).

The true believer tries hard to find a match between what is said and what takes place from day to day.

Any bad weather, a downturn in the economy. a sudden war or natural disaster will immediately FIT THE PATTERN and trigger an emotional state of True Believe and fear.

Yet, the world continues as it always has. The prophets are always general enough not to be caught being wrong. That is, the smart ones.

The really stupid ones publish permanent records of their specific claims in advance which never goes away as proof they were wrong.

It is no explanation to fall back on being merely human and error prone for the false prophet! When a man speaks on behalf of God and nothing happens he is identifying himself as taking god's name, reputation and veracity in vain. It is the identifying mark of the FALSE PROPHET to be wrong! Otherwise, every sort of liar, deciever and miscreant would simply say, "I'm only human!" when their prophecy failed.

The fool who is greedy for foreknowledge cannot accept any warning of forebearance. "Nobody knows the day and the hour" will be ignored by saying, "Well, the scripture didn't say anything about the month or the year"

The Watchtower Society has a long and provable history written in their own publications. This history of making claims in Jehovah's name which never come true identifies them as consistent liars.

This is why old publications disappear into the mists of time and reprints of Watchtower articles often contain omissions and revisions.

This is why "new light" is necessary as a "reset button" when events prove them liars.

This is why questions from members which get too specific about such matters as 1925 and 1975 are swept away and minimized and mark the questioner as a potential trouble source.

THE FALSE PROPHET is merely human and prone to error, of course, but they are willfully so in their misrepresentation of their message as OTHER THAN HUMAN in source.

They cannot have it both ways.

Otherwise they are saying, in effect:

"Believe me all the time when I tell you things. When I'm dead wrong I'm only human and if I'm right---you see! I'm a true prophet after all."

A stopped clock can be right twice a day. But, Jehovah's Witnesses don't even have that statistic to back them up!

In 1972 the Jehovah's Witness Watchtower claimed to be the prophet of God.

    IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET

" -- "So does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come? These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet?...This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian Witnesses...Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a ‘prophet' of God. It is another thing to prove it." The Watchtower, 4/1/72, p. 197. (See Deut. 18:21)

When is the Return of Christ according to Pastor Russell?

1897 "Our Lord, the appointed King, is now present, since October 1874," Studies in the Scriptures, Vol. 4, page 621.

    When is Armageddon?

1899 "...the ‘battle of the great day of God Almighty' (Revelation 16:14), which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth's present rulership, is already commenced." The Time Is at Hand, page 101 (1908 edition).

When is the 6,000 years of human existence ending?

1916 "The Bible chronology herein presented shows that the six great 1000 year days beginning with Adam are ended, and that the great 7th Day, the 1000 years of Christ's Reign, began in 1873." The Time Is at Hand, page ii, (forward).

    When is the resurrection?

1918 "Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those named by the Apostle in Hebrews 11, to the condition of human perfection." Millions Now Living Will Never Die, page 89.

What are true Christians to believe about 1925?

1925 "It is to be expected that Satan will try to inject into the minds of the consecrated, the thought that 1925 should see an end to the work." The Watchtower, Sept, 1925 page 262.
1926 "Some anticipated that the work would end in 1925, but the Lord did not state so. The difficulty was that the friends inflated their imaginations beyond reason; and that when their imaginations burst asunder, they were inclined to throw away everything." The Watchtower, page 232.

Does the Watchtower condemn itself with its own words?
1968 "True, there have been those in times past who predicted an ‘end to the world', even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The ‘end' did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing?.. Missing from such people were God's truths and evidence that he was using and guiding them." Awake, 10/8/68.

    And worst of all.....

1968 "Why are you looking forward to 1975?" The Watchtower, 8/15/68, page 494.
1968 Eight years from the Autumn of 1967 would bring us to the Autumn of 1975, fully 6,000 years into God's seventh day, his rest day. (Watchtower May 1, 1968 p. 271)
1968 "I know enough of what is going on to assure you that, in fifteen years from today, this world is going to be too dangerous to live in." (Truth That Leads To Eternal Life, p 9, 1968 edition, Quoting USA Secretary of State Dean Acheson in 1960, [1981 edition deleted "in fifteen years from today" ie. in 1975])
1968 "More recently, the book entitled "Famine-1975!" [by W. & P. Paddock, 1967, pp. 52,55,61.] said concerning today's food shortages: "Hunger is rampant throughout country after country, continent after continent around the undeveloped belt of the tropics and subtropics. Today's crisis can move in only one direction -toward catastrophe. Today hungry nations; tomorrow starving nations." … "By 1975 civil disorder, anarchy, military dictatorships, runaway inflation, transportation breakdowns and chaotic unrest will be the order of the day in many of the hungry nations." (The Truth That Leads To Eternal Life, p 88-89, 1968)
1968 "Just think, brothers, there are only about ninety months left before 6,000 years of mans existence on earth is completed... The majority of people living today will probably be alive when Armageddon breaks out, and there are no resurrection hopes for those who are destroyed then. So, now more than ever, it is vital not to ignore that spirit of wanting to do more." (Kingdom Ministry, March 1968, p. 4 [note: 1968 + 90 months = 1975])
1968 "But what about today? Today we have the evidence required, all of it. And it is overwhelming! All the many, many parts of the great sign of the last days are here, together with verifying Bible chronology." (Awake!, Oct. 8, 1968, p. 23)
1969 "in view of the short time left, a decision to pursue a career in this system of things is not only unwise but extremely dangerous....Many young brothers and sisters were offered scholarship or employment that promised fine pay. However, they turned them down and put spiritual interests first." (Kingdom Ministry, June 1969, p. 3)
Would not, then, the end of six millenniums of mankind's laborious enslavement under Satan the Devil be the fitting time for Jehovah God to usher in a Sabbath millennium for all his human creatures? Yes, indeed! And his King Jesus Christ will be Lord of that Sabbath." (Watchtower, Nov. 15, 1969, p. 622, 623)
1971 "Shortly, within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom." (The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah; 1971; 2nd ed.; p. 216)
1972 "Does this admission of making mistakes stamp them [Watchtower] as false prophets? Not at all, for false prophets do not admit to making mistakes." (Watchtower, Nov. 1, 1972, p. 644)

    And they still don't!!

Really good reasoning in your post terry.

I copied it and saved it.

I was talking with a former JW today about the WT being a false prophet. Either what they say comes true and they are a true prophet or it does not and they are a false prophet.

    Take care,

    thanks terry:

1972 "Does this admission of making mistakes stamp them [Watchtower] as false prophets? Not at all, for false prophets do not admit to making mistakes."

SEZ WHO? So you can prophesy falsely, and as long as you admit you were mistaken, you then are not a false prophet? Where is that definition in the Bible? I thought if your prophecy did not come true you were a false prophet? HOW CONVENIENT!!!!!.................oompa....sorry about the extra yellow
