I agree with your comments milligal, it's amazing how long it can control you even long after you leave. I also had the "mindmelt" as you refer to it.

Someone sent me this site while I was on another forum. On the forum I posted my grandmother passed and her memorial service was a "plug" for the JWs. If you didn't hear the first 3 minutes and listen to the last poem read you would have sworn you were at the Sunday talk, not a memorial service for someone who had passed. It was insensitive.

    A slip of the mouse.......seriously

It was a Thrusday.. (we have BS on Thrusday) I and a Elderwife were thinking up excuses not to go.

We thought we could come up with something 'spiritual' from the WT website. Too lazy to type in watchtower.org, I googled jehovahs instead.

JWD was right below the official site.....mis-clicked and saw Awake&Watching's thread on the truth book. (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/140738/1.ashx). Terry's comments starting with he was in Federal Prison made me curious...

So I made a note of the web address and read more when I got home.....after the meeting.

    The rest is history.........

I found the forum when I was recently looking for an ex-jw support site. Although I'd been away from the WTS for a number of year, and really felt that I was doing fine, my ex-husband suddenly passed away unexpectedly, and that put me in touch with all his uber-dubber family, and other JW friends who were around to help deal with his passing, which of course, dredged up a whole lot of yucky feelings and memories for me.

When I first hit this site, I thought it was actually a pro-JW site. It didn't take me long to figure it though! Although, it makes me sad to see so many that are sort of "stuck" in the grieving, there is a tremendous amount of support here. It has helped me to continue to heal and move on. I've gained a lot of enlightenment in just a few months.

I stumbled on this site by accident, trying to get to the official WTBS researching to get a full understanding why as witnesses we couldn't pledge allegiance to the flag or one's nation. I read a thread or 2, stumbled across the Acronym "NGO" and the rest is history.

I learn something new everyday while I'm on this site and within 6 months I went from a very discourged witnesses of 2 to 3 years to an all out opposer of the WTBS...

    Thank you JWD

I had already concluded that JW's were false religion. I was trying to figure out if the conclusions I had arrived at were similar to others when I found this site. Guess I'm not so smart after all. Y'all beat me to it.:)

Same as Hortensia. I've been out for ten years but still have a lot of family in the borg. Stumbled on this site by accident while I was looking for something else. I've found so much support here and log in everyday. Funny how we "Apostates" are much nicer and more understanding than people in the "truth". I've referred a few people to this site and saved one of my friends from joining the JW's.

Google'd it after I was DF'd because I wanted to see if others had seen and experienced the same BS I had in my 30+ years as a JW. It was comforting to know I wasn't alone. It's been a year since I was DF'd and there is no reason to go back. This is a great place for support, especially because it's the only outlet many of us have.
