Oh - and yes, the U.S. must depend on oil from other countries - like Canada among others. I don't know the percentages off hand.

Does the US really have to depend on other countries for oil? ..Im being forced to think about these issues i really dont know that much about...and also the canadian dollar is high does this have anything to do with the issue? Wouldnt it be better if we all had the same currency if it meant we have lower prices on oil?

YES our socialist dems and green party will not allow us to drill domestically and we are forced into the world market for oil...the Canadian dollar is definately hurting you as you have to sell us your commodies at a much lower price than before because of the currency exchange...about the same currency that could be solved over night if Canada became the United States 51st state..

    Zero,

Comparitive to Canada, the U.S.'s environmental standards are third-world. There is a contraversy up here in regards to the tarsands and the subsequent waste from the bitumen - but that is another story.

THAT's the biggest joke I've heard so far...the last time I checked we don't have raw sewage flowing thru our rivers or industrial waste...you are obviously watching to much CNN...

We can't even fart in this country without a government official shoving a regulator up our butts to measure how it affects global warming...

I'm talking about the oil patch, not your environmental standards in general.

That's the reason we can not drill new oil we have to jump thru environmental hoops that last for decades to get permits...so who is the environmentalists...

We have no problems in Canada. The U.S. should bump up they're environmental standards and get they're waste water treated with an independent body to ensure that they're not just dumping it on the ground - and believe me, they do.

As for having too high of standards to drill for new oil - well, I am unsure.

If not the speculators being held responsible... then at least the OIL companies should not sit on these oil reserves until they get the highest possible price for them. THe government should impose Something of an expense forcing Oil companies to supply more to consumers or otherwise lower prices for their customers.

YOU Canadians really need a free press instead of the CBC that does nothing but spew proganada but what would you expect from a socialist American hating government...Without the US virtually buying everything you make you would be nothing but a third world country squating on the ground...
