Physically shaken and feeling sick

    I remember experiencing similar feelings.

It's like someone just pulled the rug out from under you.

It gets better with time...not that that's a comfort right now. What I experienced for awhile was a 3 steps forward, 1 step backwards thing. I would be convinced that I had found the truth about the "truth" and was ready to denounce all things JW and then I'd have doubts, not sure to believe what I just learned or trust what I had been indoctrinated with for years and years. Escaping a cult doesn't happen overnight. You have to re-learn how to think and reason.

It is a struggle at first. In time though, as you study more, learn more, about the Society and the world outside the JWs, you'll discover the freedom of thinking for yourself and making decisions based on what you yourself have learned, not what others have told you to believe.

Oh, by the way- COMBATTING CULT MIND CONTROL is not about JW's
nor is it written by a member or former member. It has nothing to do with JW's,

Just to reinforce what OnTheWayOut said, you should be able to read this book in the open with no problems. The author, Steven Hassan, got pulled into the Moonies and brainwashed. While it only discusses the Moonies specifically, it is applicable just as much to the Watchtower Society.

You could also justify having it for doing research on the FLDS group that's been in the news lately.

Remember, Theocratic Warfare is perfectly acceptable for JWs to use as explained in their publications.
