Could the WT be doing the "fade"?

  They could be pulling a "Nortel": they have finally realized that they are not worth as much as everyone thought, so they must begin the downsizing process. Unfortunately for Nortel, that also commenced a death spiral from which they have yet to recover.

  Downsizing is a dangerous activity. It could not only send the wrong signal, but could drastically impede growth.

  But, realistically, they are tightning up operations to not only increase profits, but to keep a firm control by constantly upholding the notion that these changes indicate we are "near the end".

  They are creating the illusion of "fadng". However, behind the scenes, they are seeking to clamp down harder. Fewer boasting sessions mean less comments that go beyond the paragraph, no more goodie nights, and more time for field circus. Lower pioneer requirements, more guilt for not pioneering (if you are putting in 10 or 15 hours a month, they want you to step up to 60). No hounder-hounders at the scale we now know, so they put hounder-hounders in at the local level to keep tighter watch on the congregations.

  Eventually, they are going to be constantly monitored by the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger. Even now, I do not trust any "official" site where you have to log on, since they could easily install spyware on your computer to report to Brother Hounder any activity you do from that point on. In the future, they could start installing telescreens in every witless's home, so they can monitor everyone directly. Anyone that makes a mistake will automatically be reported to Brother Hounder, and will receive a hounding call.

  There is no question that the society views the R&F as a liability. You may be on to something. When they change the locks on all the khs without telling anyone we will know the fade is complete.
