3 a (1): a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something (2) : an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking (3) : an illuminating discovery b: a revealing scene or moment

The word, of course, is epiphany. My first was the "simple and striking" realization that I was in a manipulative religous cult. The second was the intuitive grasp of reality that there is no supreme being.

Gregor - Yes! I've been thinking alot about this particular subject here lately was wanting to start my own thread but was just trying to piece it together.

It is as if it is all just a fantasy, stuck in the Matrix so to say then you take the red pill.

Here is a song that has been ringing in my head about fantasy.

I have them all the time. Gregor, I think one day you're going to have a third very big epiphany.

Yep. During a WT study I had an:

intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking

I realized the religion I was a part of all my life did not want me and simultaneously I knew I didn't want them. I could not/would not/ didn't wanna be a JW one minute more.

    I love that word, epiphany.

I have had a few. My lastest are:

I can believe in myself, I actually know what is best for me.

I don't have to have all the answers. Living in the mystery is a good place to be.

    b : a revealing scene or moment

One of the greatest revealing scenes or moments in the universe. From The Message Bible:

Revelation 1:7 - Riding the clouds, he'll be seen by every eye,
those who mocked and killed him will see him,
People from all nations and all times
will tear their clothes in lament.
    Oh, Yes.

8 - The Master declares, "I'm A to Z. I'm The God Who Is, The God Who Was, and The God About to Arrive. I'm the Sovereign-Strong."

Uh yeah, I had some of those same feelings after I watched, "Witnesses of Jehovah" on youtube for the very first time. I had been reading up on JW's on the internet for a while, but viewing this video and seeing it all come together really made me physically ill. I saw it around 2006, and knowing that this information had been out there all along and that my parents never got to see it made me sick again.

It was eye opening, it was an awakening, physically painful experience - realizing you were raised in a cult - a real moment of WTF?

I had a couple of epiphanies that were significant to me - one was after I gave up going to the hall out of depression. I saw a bumper sticker that said "since I gave up hope I feel better." I swear that opened my eyes to the whole thing - JWs always putting off life, waiting for something that was never going to happen. One of the worst parts of that stupid religion is the "hope."

My other epiphany was when I realized one day that I not only didn't believe in the bible or god, I never had. I just didn't know it until that day. I was just going through the moves...

I've had the same two, Gregor, and a few other big ones.

You're about due for yet another. My guess is it'll finally be realizing that Obama is really the answer this country needs to get out of this eight year hell hole of twisted, mind-fucking Bushdom!

Ha! I won't be holding my breath waiting for you...

God - whether real or not - is unnecessary.
