For me and many others who criticise the JW Org. is because we have found out that we have been lied to, tricked and suffered much pain by their shunning doctrine which separates family and friends from each other. They are a cult that uses mind control and emotional blackmail to keep members which most are unaware of when they join. Others have been born into it and had their lives totally controlled and when they try to leave they realise what they have given up on because of being a JW. There is much more which you will discover if you stick around.

The truth is that the WTS. has and always will be a corrupt commercial venture that was deliberately orchestrated with the intension of utilizing and manipulating the belief in

the Bible to market its published literature. There is nothing spiritual or righteous about that is there, they indeed use mind control techniques on the people that get

interested in them and eventually get them to promote their sales. To me its just commercialism with a religious flare, thats all.

Was there a ever a devious attempt to cull and make money for the leaders of this organization you bet there was.

Was there a deliberate attempt to hide this attention for the peoples eyes, you can surely bet on that too.

The hidden purpose...............Christainity has stiff competition within its self, but with some aggressive marketing savvy you can pull it off

So called spiritually empowered men can only bring tragedy and injustice toward humanity when they are being followed as such.

The JW's are commonly perceived as maybe being a bit strange, perculiar and a bit of an an annoying pest with their continuous door to door preaching work on Sat/Sun mornings. Generally their lifestyle is different to an 'average' person's in the sense that they are seen as upholding high moral values, and do not participate in common and popular practices today such as celebrating birthdays, Christmas etc. This then can make them stand out as being a bit 'different' to others, which makes some people curious as to why they live their lives in such a way. Of course in some cases they are ridiculed or criticized for making such choices and can become an object of fun to those that are perhaps intolerant or immature.

If however you were once a member of the JW org, then that is a seperate matter. As you can see from some people's posts here, many have experienced injustices and suffering from their experience of living a life as a JW. The effect of being subject to the rules and regulations of living a life as a JW can leave you feeling depressed, isolated, guilt ridden, burdened, and in some cases abused & violated. This has left many (including myself) feeling bitter and angry towards their organisation for a long time afterwards, and if you have personally experienced this, then it is difficult for you to NOT feel judgemental towards them.

So in conclusion, i hope i have given you some logical reasons to your question as per your request and at the same time haven't sounded too judgemental.

    Respectfully

Most people here are critical of JW's because of the disfellowshipping rule. They are estranged from all their family and friends simply because they chose not to remain in the religion of their birth.

There is also a difference between JWs and mainstream religion. The common underlying themes in religion – such as descriptions of life after death – are unprovable assertions. The unproven religious ideas that we hold as truth are beliefs. Religions such as the Watchtower Society go a step further by promoting delusion – the deliberate suspension of knowledge in favour of belief. For instance, they have made many statements as to when the world would end, such as 1914 and then 1925. After the failure of these events the leaders still continued to say God directs them alone. Over time they have even started to lie about what they had said. (see http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/1914dates.htm) This takes them beyond promoting faith in God and into the realm of promoting provable delusion.

They claim to teach the truth, but cannot back up their beliefs when examined closely, e.g. 607. They often quote sources out of context to give an appearance of supporting their views. They state that other religions should be closely examined, but expect blind faith in their own doctrines. They damage family relationships with their disfellowshipping policies. Haven't got time at the moment to continue

HI SmileLover - knowing the JWs' for what they actually are and critising them are 2 very differnent things. Most of us here were JWs and have done an intesive search into their back ground and seen that they are not really what they profess to be - though the rank and file don't even know it.

My personal reasons is not really about doctrine - all religions have different doctrines, it's the fact that they want to exercise control over every aspect of your life.

Why criticize a publishing company masquerading as a relgion? could be because they destroy families, marriages and lives. They protect pedophiles with their two witness rule, if there are not two witnesses to a child rape then it never happened. They kill their members with their ungodly no blood policy. They use up the blood supply while never giving back when they take 'fractions' that nearly equal a whole anyway. Their flip flops on if a rape victim is guilty of fornication if she did or didn't scream. Their scholarly dishonesty and outright lies. Their twisting of scripture. Their extreme shunning policies that will affect generations of families not just those who are being abused in this cruel way by their families at the moment. Their absolute control over their members from clothing, hair, make up, what kind of entertainment is allowable, what books, what games, intimate sex life between spouses, who they may associate with, what activities the children are allowed to participate in, and the list goes on and on. Why criticize this dangerous and deadly cult? Because they are a danger to ones spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental well being.

LFCv, LouBelle and everyone THANK YOU for your insight. I am not a JW but my mother is and, as much as she'd like me to join them, she also understands why I do not feel like it and it is for the same exact reasons you have proposed: isolation from everything and everybody, being judgmental of others, trying to manipulate and control your life, etc. Fortunately she is quite objective and she sees good and bad people inside and outside the JW congregation. She is not one of those who believes and says that only JW will be saved. She helps me see only the spiritual part of it all.
