I recently bought an '08 Golf GTI, so I won't be getting another for awhile. Good gas milage, hatchback is handy, but is is a turbo so with spirited driving the good gas milage quickly becomes not so good.

I hope by the time I'm looking for another there'll be some decent domestic electric vehicles.

There's always a trade-off, yes? Ida thunk that model would be economical regardless. Goes to show I'm no expert.
I once had an old Buick that got 5 miles to a gallon. They used to say that the only thing it couldn't pass was a gas station ...

With normal driving I average 28mpg, if my foot gets a bit heavy I'll get 22-24 mpg. Highway I get low 30s.

Dear Loon,
I can live with that.
My Ford 6-banger gets 20 mpg everywhere, which is all right; however, with gas approaching $4.00 a gallon here in Nor Cal, I drive only when I must.
