A friend of mine is 'becoming Christian' and wants to raise his kids in the faith. So I have asked him a bunch of questions as to his choices and his beliefs. He hasn't given me any straight answers. This tells me he hasn't looked at any faiths and hasn't really given any thought to why he has made the choice he has. I did give him the link to Hassan's BITE model so he can use that info. to judge whether his church is cult-like or not.
I shared with him an excerpt from the beginning of The Atheist's Book of Bible Stories. I didn't tell him the title. I figure that would scare him off. Will see what he responds with (IF he reads it that is).
