So, Kingdom News #37 was intended to start the great tribulation?

Nathan natas posted this ink yesterday:

Ok its a little old but it helps us see things from a strategic point of view.

Everyone wants the numbers, the catholic Church and other are happy to share and be ecumenical, if you notice the response from the Mormon leader, he comes across quite reasonable and supportive of the Catholic religion.

It backs up my belief that the JW model is a mix of the Catholic and Jewish model, apart from doctrine that is, culturally very similar in that we are made to feel better ( superior) but at the same time persecuted.

So we are brought up or trained to have both a superiority complex and persecution complex at the same time, very similar to if you were a Jew.

Personally I think the kingdom news tracts are either a strategic move to kill any chance of ecumenism in the developing countries or to make active members feel impeding doom.

I tried to persecute some JW's who were distributing that kn37 tract, but they wouldn't stop running long enough to even talk to me! Gotta get those 25 tracts done, so they can go have a jelly donut and coffee, that must have been what they were thinking.

Yep......there were a few threads on this a year and a half ago.......The Witnesses were all getting soooo pumped up with the idea that The End was just a hair's breath away:

Of course, if you ask any of the R&F about it now, they'll just say "we never said that".

I remember jw's saying over and over again how "powerful the information is" and how "the end must be close."

That tract was a wimpy little thing. If they really want to get a "tribulation", they have to go by Judge Rutherford's playbook and write truly vitriolic condemnations of other religions and peoples. Not sure if even that would work....everybody hates Fred Phelps but how much persecution have they gotten? Rutherford was good at "riling up the roosters" as he put it, but the Society today is too self-conscious of their public image to go that far.

Oh for the love of Mike, I remember way back in 1972 when they were starting this crap we were running from door to door saying that it is likened to the walls falling down, I think almost swallowed that crock hook line and sinker back then.

Holding one in my hand right now - going to quote something for my #4 talk in a couple of weeks. LOL. It is quite absurdly silly, now that I read it without my JW blinkers.

Welcome aboard, DoomVoyager! Sorry to read you still have to give student talks.

Thanks Gopher! Yeah, it sucks, but I have to put up with it for a bit longer. Living with my folks. I plan to stay around here for a while so, see you later.
