Man you have got to love the legal system in the US. Meanwhile there actually are innocent people in prison that legitimately did nothing wrong but this scumbag gets to walk free. It is the same here in Canada to. Wife abusers, rapists, kiddy touchers, and murderers all deserve the exact same fate. A public execution on live TV.

Funny you quote the very reason why I am against execution. The innocent tend to get executed too. It's easier to straighten a miscarriage of justice out if the innocent is still alive to be let go.

I usually agree with your views, but there may be laws that may in fact keep the Elders from disclosing private meetings between parishioners. Plus, it may not have effected the case, telling someone what you heard from someone else is hearsay evidence and sometimes inadmissible. What I don't understand is why the Elders didn't tell the boy that he needed to tell the authorities.. that if he didn't then he couldn't serve?

I think the most disturbing thing to me was that they let him become a publisher and get baptised so quickly after what he did... You are supposed to be, "repentant of all your sins" when you get baptised. How could he be repentant so quickly? He wouldn't even so much as say he was sorry to her so why would they let him get baptised?

I would say he's "unrepentant" if he didn't confess his sins to the authorities. Again, I bet you a million that they Elders didn't want to "put shame on Jehovah's name"...

I know... I just don't know what the hell the elders in his kingdom hall were thinking... They are letting someone who they know for a fact abused her for years and then raped her into the congregation... I just think its sick cause they know these things for a fact and just let it happen... He doesn't have to say that he's sorry, no jail time, no going to the f***ing authorities, nothing... He just get's off totally scott free and they even baptise him like he did nothing wrong...

I have a question in regard to this tragic case - Does the concept of ecclesiastical privilege extend to elders in the Jehovah's Winesses organization? Can they use this as an excuse for NOT reporting a criminal felony such as rape, murder, or arson? Are they not supposed to report instances of pedophilia to the police? Are pedophilia and child abuse the only exceptions to ecclesiastical privilege? I ask this because don't the Witnesses say that they are different from other churches in that there exists no "clergy class"in the Witness organization? Don't they claim that all "publishers" should be considered as clergy? What does U,S, law state in regard to criminal felonies "confessed" [reported] to Jehovah's Witnesses elders by members of the organization?

My feelings on this is that if the priests in the Catholic church were exposed with repects to their sexual misconduct there was noecclesiastical privilege for them as the younger victims grew up they informed on these priests. They had to pay the price for what they had done. That too could have been considered heresay by the victums. And the church would have been able to continue in the same way having clergy that were perverts. But as we know this is not the case they are being charged and imprisoned for their terrible disgusting conduct.

I don't think Jehovah's witness should be allowed to use this so called ecclesiastical privilege in any way with regards to anyone who has broken one of the laws of the country and an innocent victum is entitled to all records and reports with regards to the identifcation and deeds committed by these sexual violators..

They(elders) should have no rights what- so -ever, they need to come forward with their knowledge in the case, like they believed the sister not the guy as he would have had to repent to stay in the orgainzation. I am sure this guy was pressured into baptizm.

So those records should have been turned over to the law and I would think this sister has every right to charge the congregation elders for keeping hush hush on the truth of the matter. In my opinion they(elders) are as guilty as the perpatrator in this or any other case that involves sexual molestation, pedophila, incest, touching or sodomy or rape or buggery. All these must be told to the law of the land to protect the other members of the church or in the KH.of JWs . Otherwise what kind of religion are JWs promoting? Oh it is okay for a sexual pervert to become a witness they won't be prosecuted. What an opening for these filthy pigs.. If the society doesn't come forward then they should to be held in contempt for having with held information as I believe all JC are recorded for the head quarters especially with this kind of situation. So they are too quilty. Sue them I say.

Why would they have pressured him into baptism??? I don't get it...

Only 2 elders spoke to the woman, so I don't believe this was a JC... Do you think the headquarters would know about this???

If the elders in that poor woman's congregation are anything like the elders that presided over the congregations that I attended, I'm sure the society knows the whole story. It would like to me the elders, and probably under the society's direction, are trying to burn the candle at both ends. They're not discouraging her from seeking a protective order, but they're not forthcoming with the authorities about this pervert--all to avoid bad press--nothing new here.

I'll get ripped for saying this, but has a woman ever said she was raped and it wasn't true? If there wasn't evidence and it's a "he said, she said" does it mean that it's really "she's right and he's a rapist anyway" ?
