Why is it every new person I meet moves away?

Cheers and the best to you both if you do move.

Awwww, DJK... Nothing is set in stone yet, but I don't think we can ever have a life of our own here. Plus, its freezing here...

I lived in Florida for over 20 years. I would not recommend it...Nice to visit...living there is altogether different.. North and South Carolina are beautiful in many areas and I've visited many times...but I don't know enough to give you any specifics on the best areas to live.

Thanks, I think its between N. & S. Carolina and Georgia. Have no idea which city...

Layla33: "About Georgia, aren't they experiencing a severe water drought? I'm just curious."

Yep. They are. Something about an environmental law to protect the habitiat of some endangered mussel downstream in Florida.

Keeps them releasing water from the lake. That is a major cause for the problem, that and piss-poor planning on the part of city developers allowing

uncontrolled building over the last 20 years.

I'm all for protecting animals...but not at the irrational expense of people.

Only two places worth living in as far as Georgia goes... Savannah, and Athens. I wouldn't recommend either.. Athens, college town lots of partying, nice restaurants and the like, but too damn young... I haven't dated a lady my age in years... Next, Savannah, all the Yankees that come south love Savannah, that's because they don't live there. Its a dangerous place, can't even walk down Abercrumbie Street at night. Charleston... nice, take a virtual tour of Charleston. You'll like what you see. Asheville, NC is also nice, just too damn hard to make a living. Charlotte is nice but too big a city for me. Richmond, Va... that's where I'm moving hopefully. Small, but has crime... I'm moving to the outskirts. I love history so that's my town. And you can go to Washington DC on the train from Fredericksburg...go to all those nice museums...

Va.Beach/Hampton Roads area is a good place. Phenomenal growth and pretty temperate. Right on the coast and still comparatively cheap. I have tons of job offers from that area so i guess the job market is ok. I would not mind moving back there but alas, it is not in my families best interest and in line with our long term goals. P.S. This winter is starting to wear on me also.

Hello cognac....I have been enjoying your posts of late and I have to admit that you are one fast moving chick! May I ask you a question? Not to be nosy or anything, but does your desire to move have something to do with your new stance with the dubs? Just curious....

Cant say I recommend Florida either. Low pay, High property taxes. High property insurance. Corrupt politicians. Hot 3/4 of the year. Hurricanes. Dense traffic.

    Any ideas?

Why not just move down to RI?

Florida and the gulf coast of Alabama were once very nice. Then all the snowbirds decided to live down there for the winter. In come the DEVELOPERS and other greedy, sleazy sorts. And now you have the Florida and coastal Alabama you see today.
