Thinking of giving it all up!

Why not buy a sailboat and go wherever you want to go -- India, Canada, Caribbean. Another plus -- if you don't like your neighbors, just pull up the anchor and go somewhere else. If you do your homework and are careful, sailing and cruising are relatively safe. But that slight risk you take whenever you're on the water is also what makes it exciting.

Older sailboats that need some TLC can be real bargains if you need to work within a budget. Learning to sail is easy; learning to sail well is a little more difficult. But if you're careful and learn the ropes, cruising can be an adventure that never gets stale. My husband and I have had boats for close to 20 years, and we have had some of the best times of our lives on them.

If this appeals to you, do a lot of reading first -- start with Chapman's Piloting and Seamanship. Then read about how others made "living aboard" a way of life.

    Yoho, me hearties, yoho!

Anyone else got the urge to get out of the rat-race?

    Ofcourse.

It's not as romantic as it might seem though.

It's always greener on the other side of the mountain.

I suggest contacting Outlaw and see if you can have a beer with him.

I bet that will take care the urge. (or not)

    Andy
