I agree with jwfacts that WWCG are a lesson to remember. What they did splintered the religion (and most importantly ;-) the money dried up). Some went their various mainstream ways, other hardcore members stuck like glue to Armstrong. They are a shadow of their former selves, organizationally. I think the same would happen with JWs if they ditched or changed 1914. And it would take a genius to figure out how to reinterpret the 1918/9 thing, connecting prophetic patterns with JW history in a 'convincing' way.
