So we go see the family...

We went to see the inlaws after their unexpectadly long vacation because FIL ended up getting sick and kept them there about a month. All was fine till "brothers" started showing up. One showed up and didn't acknowledge my hubby, much less me. Introductions all around, except us. I'm sure this man has known my husband since childhood.

The other problem was that all the family was there except one brother in law and his wife. They kept coming up with excuses why he and his wife hadn't arrived yet. Finally, hubby and I went into town to a few antique shops then went back to the family. While we were out, my hubby asked if i was ready to head home, this said with a very sad look on his face. I then understood. I believe his brother wasn't showing up because we were there. My hubby grew up JW but has been inactive abour 5-6 years now. These are such cruel practices. I will never understand how they can call them loving. I hope these situations open his eyes one day. I know he still believes to a certain extent, but the reverse of that coin is that he hadn't lived in a "big city" or in real life before he moved out of the town he grew up in which is very very small.

    thanks to all who listen

    Hi 4mylove,
Ask them to meditate on these verses :)

    Mark 12 (New International Version)

    The Greatest Commandment

28One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'[f] 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[g]There is no commandment greater than these."

32"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

34When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

    1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 Corinthians 13 (New International Version)

    Love

3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

    8Love never fails.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

If they need some more then give me a shout and I will send them over :)

    All the best,
    Stephen

I am so sorry about that. They are so far away from being Christians that they may as well be Jewish, or Buddist or whatever. At least you have each other.

And yet these people feel they are honoring Jehovah by ignoring you two? Has anyone asked how the Father-in-law feels about this shunning of his Daughter and SIL? If the FIL is anything like my parents, they feel that whomever mistreats their children, mistreat them as well.

4 MY LOVE- I am so sorry your husband and you had to go through that prejudiced experience by a " mind control cult ". These people are robots- they are programmed and have no feeling. There is no excuse for that behavior. Tell your husband we care and if you ever want to talk or him too- just PM me. We will. Peace out, hang in there girl ! Mr. Flipper

I'm sorry 4mylove, but this is typical behavior when people want to feel special and really aren't. So, just count yourself blessed that you're smart enough to treat your own family with respect... you can't make others do what's right.

    Wha happened,

My father in law is the nicest man. He is very active though. I think is is a bit of a follower. This is very hard on my husband because he loves his father so much.

    One day.....
