Forscher, I was at that New Orleans assy in 1978. In fact, I was dunked at that convention.

Small world Evidently. One amusing thing I remember about that assembly was that the word was put around that any witness caught on Bourbon Street would be Df'd, period. But then the rooming department put some brothers in hotels on said evil street. And yes, the ones I met informed me that they could see the strip joints from their hotel. I used to chuckle about that one.

During one of the midday intermissions a younger friend and I climbed all the way up to the top of the nosebleed balcony of the Superdome and sat for awhile. It was awesome! That was also where I first sampled a burrito. Dumb hick that I was, I was among those who thought it had not been properly cooked. Remember that some folks had complained about that and an announcement had to be made about it? Burritos have since become one of my favorite food items, though I like chimichangas (the old classical ones that are burritos which are deep-fried instead of the versions I generally see in Tex-Mex restaurants these days).

I do have some nice memories from that assembly.

I'll never forget the assembly in Madison, Wi. where some poor sap had to tell everyone that he had become addicted to porno on the net, but through much prayerful contemplation and after confessing to the elders he was able to come to "grips" with it.

Good luck to that guy with ever getting a fine sister to marry him.

Poor guy. I really felt sorry for him. I figure they forced him to relate his "experience" in front of thousands of people to show he truly was repentant. I can't beieve anyone would actually volunteer to share that with all those people. How utterly humiliating that must've been for that hapless guy.

That is AWFUL! I bet it was a "do this or be disfellowshipped" tactic at his JC meeting. That poor guy.
