Here's your chance in making a prediction. If you're correct you will be declared the winner.
The basis of this contest is the Watchtower video, the subject of the recent fiasco. The video's still online -- you know the one.
My question here is based on the premise of, not whether the Watchtower will shut down or modify the above page -- but when. Yes, the same video that they produced, the one which they subscribed to, they authenticated, they endorsed, they bought off on, all that. They made a choice and authorized everything that was said there. No, they didn't voice it but they made the choice to validate it. It became their "current light" on the topic.
Most here suspect the GB is scratching its collective gray head as it ponders a solution to a problem that must be very embarrassing to them.
"Brothers, what shall we do? Do we ignore it and assume our enemies will forget all about it? We know many of the flock already know about it so what shall we tell them? If we simply disable the site there will be serious questions that the elders will be asked. We will have to train them on damage control. If we modify the site our enemies will know it -- they've got copies of the page and copies of the video along with the transcript. The media, specifically NBC, has copies as well. Several U.S. senators also have copies. The Internet site, WayBackMachine.com, has that page in its archives with snapshots of its state ever since its creation. How can we save face?"
If this were an office pool, we'd circulate a sheet with different dates to choose from with the winner reaping some monetary prize. Well, we don't have that, and it's probably illegal to gamble money on this site -- so let's have a prize of, say -- a big virtual pat on the back to the winner(s). If you guess the exact date and you're the only one, you're the winner. There may be more than one winner. If you guess a date range (between 12/15 and 1/1/08) and it's the narrowest range, you're the winner. Guess a time of day, as well, in case a tiebreaker is needed. Again, there may be more than one. If there are any other rules that need to be appended, speak up.
The last date of its modification (right click / info) is November 22, one day following the NBC piece on Watchtower pedophilia. That is the baseline date that we'll be looking at. Of course, if the page is disabled we'll obviously know that as well and certainly someone will notify us of that fact. I'll go out on a limb here and say it won't be the WT.:)
Here's my choice (yes, I know it won't be in the running but here it is anyway) -- Right Around The Corner.
