There are good reasons to conclude that the Tree of knowledge of good and bad was the male Cannabis plant and the Tree of life the female Cannabis plant, the one which bears the seed. In accordance with bible chronology it took about 5,5oo years of human existance on earth before mankind generally became aware that the earth revolved on its axis and orbited the sun, rather than the sun orbiting the earth. On the same time scale it took about 5,750 years before men generally became aware that eating a lemon would prevent scurvy. It took a further 100 years or so before men generally understood that invisible bacteria transmitted disease.
