Thought Id attempt to make one from scratch, my fruit has been sititng in rum all night yummmmm.

I always buy the dark one with the marzipan frosting...yummy:-)

Now that you've made one, I bet you can see why people are proud to give them as gifts! I'll bet they taste better fresh. I do miss my grandma's cakes!

absolutely, Im going to decorate it once its cool with white and dark choc stars and ribbon.

home made chocolate chip, walnut cookies-still warm. Only 200 calories per cookie. Must be washed down with milk. Yum.

I love fruitcake, make some every year. I tried a bunch of recipes, have settled down to just two recipes. One is dark, dried fruit in brandy for six months, stirred into what is basically a pound cake recipe. One is light, and I used candied ginger instead of candied fruit - rum, nuts, yellow raisins too, yummm.

Oh yummo hortensia, yeah this one is a dark cake, I had to beat in melted dark choc and apricot jam and fruit that I had sitting in rum. It looks great just taken out of the oven
