if you acknowledge your opponents point of attack, that is, their failed ideas and predictions, it blunts the force of it. it disempowers its effectiveness. the few who would have apostate leanings that would be stimulated to leave by these talks is far outweighed by those whose wavering faith is assuaged by them. it is a calculated risk on their part.

The thing about false prophecy is that it is really very clear cut. A lot of discussions (preaching, the trinity, hellfire etc) can get caught up in obscure intrepretations of the Bible, or even whether or not you accept the authority of the Bible. False prophecy comes down to this: "Did they predict it?" and "Did it happen?"

They can't cover themselves with "it was invisible" if they change the entire understanding of a scripture. Even hey are admitting to being wrong on dates.

Yea, but he's right to a point, this "invisable" thing does cover some of their groundwork. I know I preach this all the time, but the one thing they can't change is that it's not an act of 'aposatcy" to question men. So, when you know they're wrong, you don't have to live by it, and when that's your choice, then your family shouldn't quit talking to you.
