I did geneology for my family as a hobby for a couple of years. Italy keeps fantastic records and I was able to trace my Italian (Sicilian) ancestors and relatives back to the early 1700's before I stopped.

I am related to Joe Dimaggio and Vinny Testaverde back a few generations. As far a I can tell, they are not related to each other except thru my family's blood line.

Dobbie there is a tradition in the family that we had some ancestors that participated in the crusades which is of course a long time ago. They were supposed to have been part of the nobility and not just anyone but I can't recall the details, an auntie was telling me many years ago, she is the one that inquires and searches and knows most about the family history.

My father made human bone marrow transplants successful. He shared the 1990 Nobel Prize in Medicine with Dr. Joseph Murray, who did the first kidney transplant.

My wife's family is related to Daniel Boone, Abraham Lincoln and a couple of members of the Hole in the Wall Gang.

My father's side of the family is distantly (3rd or 4th cousins) related to Don and Phil Everly. "Wake up little Suzie, wake up."

This means that when Don's daughter, Erin, was briefly married to Axle Rose, then I was related to Gun's 'N Roses by marriage. "Welcome to the jungle!"

I'm related to Robert the Bruce from my Dad's side. That's right! Scottish royalty all the way. Er, I think it'd be slightly cooler to be related to Wallace, but I don't think he had any children.
