Here is a link to one of the law firms used by the WBTS. They specialize in defending abuse cases filed against churches.
They must have paid a fortune.

The main WTS lawyer in this case was Jewish and not a JW.
Whether or not to include things like the medical records and such on the CD was debated. Considering that the defense lawyer put them into evidence in order to show the devastating effect of the abuse, it was decided to also include them on the CD, for similar reasons.
In the WTS's defense, it of course had the right to defend itself in court. What I think is damning in all of this, is to what extent they went to protect themselves and escape responsibility.

As I read through the court filings, depositions and other supporting documents, I can identify each response by the DEFENSE (WTS) as demonstrative of one of these three characteristics: ARROGANCE, IGNORANCE and GUILEFULNESS.
The ’three-year rule’ is primarily a staggering example of IGNORANCE so profound in its audacity that it nearly eclipses the incredible ARROGANCE required to bald-facedly defend it. An organization that wields such unilateral power over the lives of more than 6 million men, women and children has a profound duty of care when it comes to the basic safety and well-being of its adherents. Apparently, the WTS has mandated policies and practices with regards to pedophiles and those endangered by them, in complete vincible, willful IGNORANCE of what pedophilia is all about.
Short and not-so- sweet, pedophiles:
1. are criminals
2. are hard-wired to be predators
3. are highly skilled at manipulating not just their victims, but those in any authority who would keep them from their victims
4. are unable to be rehabilitated
5. and, unchecked, pose a lifelong threat to any and all children in their sphere
The WTS has absolutely NO EXCUSE for being ignorant of these simple facts!
The WTS has had the ARROGANCE to decide that they are above the law and make and enforce policies that have put thousands of innocent children at risk for sexual abuse that professionals have termed, "the murder of a child’s soul."In the WTS’ GUILEFULNESS, as demonstrated by the actions of their hired legal defense, they have disingenuously pled:
1. First amendment immunity
2. Penitential privilege
3. Ecclesiastical privilege
4. Free exercise of religion clause in the Constitution
5. The dog ate my homework and I was in Cleveland at the time (just checking if you were paying attention)
When thwarted by the Plaintiff’s counsel, exposing the above as non-issues – this isn’t about freedom of religion, it’s about criminal child sexual abuse! – the Defense falls back on plain old obfuscation – quibbling over definitions of words, use of language, geography, time, irrelevant precedents, publications and attorney-client privilege; all the usual stonewalling tactics of a losing case.

I was stunned by the direction to elders to call from a telephone booth so they could not be asked additional info. They are pond scum.
Now if Barbara can go after the wife abusers, and Rapists that flourish in the congregations.

I have been sifting thru this since last night. It's not easy. I did find Jim Whitney's (Amazing) transcribed testimony/affadavit, which I have long been curious about. It made my blood boil.
Could people suggest particular pages for the various subjects mentioned? It would cut down on the sifting time. (And Jim Whitney's testimony is page 248, as given in the Table of Contents, btw.)
